[현대인성경 구약 창세기20장] 아브라함이 아비멜렉에게 아내 사라를 누이라고 속이다 : [Modern Human Bible, Old Testament, Genesis 20] Abraham deceived Abimelech that his wife Sarah was his sister

1. 아브라함은 그곳 마므레에서 남쪽 네겝 지방으로 이주하여 가데스와 술 사이에 살았다. 후에 그는 그랄에 가서 머물게 되었다

(Abraham moved from there to the southern region of the Negev from Mamre and lived between Kadesh and Shur. Later he went to Gerar to stay)

2. 거기서 그는 자기 아내 사라를 누이동생이라고 하였으므로 그랄 왕 아비멜렉이 사람을 보내 그녀를 자기 궁전으로 데려오게 하였다

(There he called his wife Sarah his sister, so Abimelech king of Gerar sent and brought her to his palace)

3. 그러나 그 날 밤 하나님이 아비멜렉의 꿈에 나타나셔서 "네가 데려온 이 여자 때문에 너는 죽게 될 것이다. 그녀는 이미 결혼한 유부녀이다" 하고 말씀하셨다

(But that night, God appeared to Abimelech in a dream and said, "You will die because of this woman you brought. She is a married woman")

-> 하나님도 종종 우리에게 "너는 죄를 짓고 있다"라고 하시는데, 나와 우리는 '아닙니다 주님'이라고 얘기하는 모습을 자주 본다 (God often tells us, "You are sinning," but I often see us and I say, 'No, Lord')

4. 아비멜렉은 그 여자를 가까이하지 않았으므로 이렇게 대답하였다. "주여, 죄 없는 사람을 죽이시겠습니까?

(Abimelech did not approach the woman, so he replied: “Lord, will you kill an innocent man?)

5. 그는 나에게 이 여자를 자기 누이동생이라 하였고 이 여자도 그를 자기 오빠라고 하였습니다. 내가 이 일을 깨끗한 마음으로 했으니 나에게는 아무 잘못이 없습니다"

(He called me his sister and this woman also called him his brother. I did this with a pure heart, so there is nothing wrong with me")

6. 그때 꿈 속에서 하나님이 그에게 말씀하셨다. "네가 깨끗한 마음으로 이렇게 한 것을 나도 알고 있다. 그래서 내가 너를 막아 나에게 범죄 하지 않도록 그 여자에게 손을 대지 못하게 하였다

(Then in a dream God spoke to him. “I know that you did this with a pure heart. So I stopped you from touching her, lest you sin against me)

-> 하나님은 우리가 범죄할때 신호를 주신다. 주님이 지켜보시는 걸 인지하고, 죄악에서 돌아서야 한다

(God gives us signals when we sin. Recognize that the Lord is watching, and you must turn away from your sins)

7. 이제 그 사람의 아내를 돌려보내라. 그는 예언자이다. 그가 너를 위해 기도하여 네가 죽지 않도록 할 것이다. 그러나 만일 네가 그 여자를 돌려보내지 않으면 너와 너에게 딸린 자들이 다 죽음을 당할 것이다"

(Now send the man's wife back. he is a prophet He will pray for you so that you do not die. But if you don't let her go, you and all your companions will die")

8. 아비멜렉이 다음날 아침 일찍 일어나 자기 신하들을 다 불러 모으고 그 일을 말하자 그들이 몹시 두려워하였다

(When Abimelech got up early the next morning and gathered all his servants and told them about it, they were very afraid)

9. 그때 아비멜렉이 아브라함을 불러 말하였다. "당신은 어째서 우리에게 이런 짓을 하였소? 내가 당신에게 무슨 잘못을 하였기에 나와 내 나라에 이런 큰 죄를 불러들였소? 당신은 나에게 해서는 안 될 짓을 하였소

(Then Abimelech called Abraham and said, "Why have you done this to us? What have I done to you that you have brought such a great sin to me and my country? You have done what I shouldn't have done to you)

10. 도대체 당신이 이렇게 한 이유가 무엇이오?"(Why the hell did you do this?")

11. 그래서 아브라함이 대답하였다. "이 곳에는 하나님을 두려워하는 사람이 없으므로 사람들이 내 아내를 탐내서 나를 죽일 것이라고 생각했습니다

(So Abraham answered. “There is no God-fearing here, so I thought that people would covet my wife and kill me)

-> 나와 우리 또한 마찬가지로 믿는 크리스찬들에게는 올바르게 이야기하면서, 하나님을 믿지 않거나 종교가 다른 이들에게는 빛과 소금의 역할을 하지 못하는 때가 너무 많은 것을 느낀다

(Me and I, too, feel that too often we fail to act as light and salt to non-believers or other religions while speaking right to Christians who believe)

12. 사실 그녀는 내 이복 누이동생이었는데 나와 결혼하여 내 아내가 되었습니다.

(In fact, she was my half-sister, who married me and became my wife)

13. 그래서 하나님이 나를 고향에서 내어보내 방랑 생활을 하게 하실 때에 내가 그녀에게 이렇게 말했습니다. '지금부터 우리가 어디로 가든지 당신은 나를 오빠라고 하시오. 이것이 나를 사랑하는 길이오' "

(So when God sent me out of my hometown to live a wandering life, I said to her: 'From now on, wherever we go, you call me my brother. This is the way to love me”)

14. 그러자 아비멜렉은 양과 소와 종들을 아브라함에게 주고 또 그의 아내 사라도 돌려주며

(Then Abimelech gave the sheep and cattle and the servants to Abraham, and returned Sarah his wife)

15. "당신 앞에 보이는 것이 다 내 땅이오. 아무 데서나 살고 싶은 곳에서 사시오" 하고

("Everything I see before you is my land. You can live anywhere you want")

16. 또 사라에게 이렇게 말하였다. "내가 당신 오빠에게 은화 1,000개를 주어 그것으로 당신과 함께 있는 모든 사람 앞에서 당신이 깨끗하다는 증거로 삼겠소. 사람들은 당신이 아무것도 잘못한 것이 없음을 알게 될 것이오"

(And he said to Sarah: "I will give your brother 1,000 pieces of silver as proof that you are clean in front of everyone with you. People will know that you have done nothing wrong")

17-18. 아브라함의 아내 사라의 일로 여호와께서는 아비멜렉의 집안사람들이 아이를 낳지 못하게 하셨는데 아브라함이 기도하므로 하나님께서 아비멜렉과 그 아내와 여종들을 고치셔서 그들이 아이를 낳을 수 있게 하셨다

(Because of Abraham's wife Sarah, the Lord stopped Abimelech's household from having children, but through Abraham's prayer, God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his maidservants so that they could bear children)
