1 “에훗이 죽은 후 이스라엘 백성은 다시 여호와께 범죄하였다.”(After Ehud's death, the Israelites again sinned against the Lord)
‭‭2 “그래서 여호와께서는 그들을 하솔에서 통치하는 가나안 왕 야빈의 지배를 받게 하셨다. 그리고 그의 총사령관은 하로셋 – 하고임에 사는 시스라였다.”(So the Lord put them under Jabin, king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. And his commander-in-chief was Sisera, who lived in Hagoim, Harosheth – )
‭‭3 “야빈은 철전차 900대를 소유하고 있었으며 20년 동안 이스라엘 백성을 잔인하게 통치하였다. 그래서 이스라엘 백성이 여호와께 부르짖었다.”(Jabin owned 900 iron chariots and brutally ruled the Israelites for 20 years. So the Israelites cried out to the Lord)
‭‭4 “그때 랍비돗의 아내인 예언자 드보라가 이스라엘 백성의 사사가 되어”(At that time, Deborah the prophet, wife of Lapidoth, judged the people of Israel)
‭‭5 “에브라임 산간 지대, 라마와 벧엘 사이에 있는 ‘드보라의 종려나무’ 아래에 재판석을 마련하였고 이스라엘 백성은 소송 문제를 해결하려고 그녀에게 나아갔다.”(A judgment seat was set up in the mountainous region of Ephraim, between Ramah and Bethel, under the ‘palm tree of Deborah,’ and the Israelites went to her to settle their case)
‭‭6 “어느 날 드보라가 납달리 땅 게데스에 사는 아비노암의 아들 바락을 불러다가 그에게 말하였다. “이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 당신에게 이런 명령을 내리셨습니다. ‘너는 납달리 지파와 스불론 지파 사람 10,000명을 이끌고 다볼산으로 가거라.”(One day Deborah summoned Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in the land of Naphtali. “The Lord, the God of Israel, has given you this command. ‘You are to lead 10,000 men from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun to Mount Tabor)
‭‭7 “그러면 내가 철전차와 많은 군대를 거느린 야빈군의 총사령관 시스라를 기손 강가로 이끌어내어 네 손에 넘겨 주겠다.’ ”(Then I will bring Sisera, commander-in-chief of Jabin's army with chariots of iron and a large army, to the Kishon River and hand him over to you.')
8 “그때 바락이 드보라에게 “만일 당신이 나와 함께 가면 내가 가겠습니다. 그러나 당신이 나와 함께 가지 않으면 나도 가지 않겠습니다” 하고 대답하였다.”(Then Barak said to Deborah, “If you go with me, I will go. But I will not go unless you go with me.”)
‭‭9 “그러자 드보라가 이렇게 말하였다. “좋습니다. 그러면 내가 당신과 함께 가겠습니다. 그러나 여호와께서 시스라를 한 여자의 손에 넘겨 주실 것이므로 당신은 가도 승리에 대한 영광은 얻지 못할 것입니다.” 그러고서 드보라는 바락과 함께 게데스로 갔다.”(Then Deborah said: "great. Then I will go with you But if you go, you will not get the glory for your victory, for Jehovah will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman.” Then Deborah went to Kedesh with Barak)
‭‭10 “바락이 스불론과 납달리 지파 사람들을 게데스로 불러모으자 10,000명이 지원하여 그를 따랐고 드보라도 그와 함께 올라갔다.”(Barak summoned the tribes of Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh, and 10,000 volunteers followed him, and Deborah went up with him)
‭‭11 “이때 모세의 처남인 호밥의 자손 중 겐 사람 헤벨이 겐 사람들을 떠나 게데스에서 가까운 사아난님의 상수리나무 곁에 천막을 치고 살고 있었다.”(At this time, Heber the Kenite, one of the descendants of Hobab, Moses' brother-in-law, left the Kenites and pitched a tent by the oak of Zaanannim near Kedesh)
‭‭12 “시스라는 아비노암의 아들 바락이 다볼산에 올라갔다는 말을 듣고”(Sisera heard that Abinoam's son Barak had gone up Mount Tabor)
‭‭13 “900대의 철전차와 모든 병력을 하로셋 – 하고임에서 기손 강가로 집결시켰다.”(He assembled 900 iron chariots and all troops from Haroset – Hagoyim to the banks of the Kishon River)
‭‭14 “그때 드보라가 바락에게 말하였다. “일어나시오! 오늘 여호와께서 시스라를 당신의 손에 넘겨 주셨소. 여호와께서는 당신을 인도하십니다.” 그래서 바락은 자기를 따르는 10,000명의 병력을 거느리고 다볼산에서 내려왔다.”(Then Deborah spoke to Barak. “Get up! Today the Lord has delivered Sisera into your hand. Jehovah guides you.” So Barak came down from Mount Tabor with 10,000 men who followed him)
‭‭15 “여호와께서 시스라와 그의 모든 군대를 바락 앞에서 패하게 하시므로 시스라가 자기 전차를 버리고 달아났다.”(The Lord defeated Sisera and all his army before Barak, so Sisera abandoned his chariot and fled)
‭‭16 “그러나 바락은 그 전차들과 군대를 하로셋 – 하고임까지 추격하여 시스라의 군대를 한 사람도 남기지 않고 모조리 쳐죽였다.”(But Barak pursued his chariots and troops all the way to Harosheth, Hagoim, and struck down all of Sisera's troops, leaving no one behind)
‭‭17 “한편 시스라는 겐 사람인 헤벨의 아내 야엘의 천막으로 도망하였다. 이것은 하솔 왕 야빈과 헤벨의 가족 사이에 친분이 있었기 때문이었다.”(Sisera, meanwhile, fled to the tent of Jael, the Kenite wife of Heber. This was because of the friendship between Jabin king of Hazor and the family of Heber)
‭‭18 “그때 야엘은 시스라를 맞으며 “장군님, 안으로 들어오십시오. 두려워하지 않으셔도 됩니다” 하고 말하였다. 그가 안으로 들어가자 야엘은 그를 이불로 덮어 주었다.”(Then Jael greeted Sisera and said, “Come in, General. You need not be afraid.” When he went inside, Yael covered him with a blanket)
‭‭19 “시스라가 “물 좀 주시오. 목이 말라 죽겠소” 하자 야엘은 우유 부대를 열어 마시게 하고 다시 이불로 덮어 주었다.”(Sisera said, “Give me some water. I am thirsty.” Yael opened the milk carton, gave her a drink, and covered her with the blanket again)
‭‭20 “그때 시스라가 그녀에게 말하였다. “천막 문 앞에 서 있다가 누가 와서 찾거든 아무도 없다고 말해 주시오.””(Sisera then spoke to her. “Stand at the tent door, and if someone comes looking for you, tell them that no one is there.”)
‭‭21 “시스라가 피곤하여 깊이 잠들자 야엘은 망치와 말뚝을 가져와 살며시 다가가서 말뚝을 그의 관자놀이에 대고 땅에 박아 죽였다.”(When Sisera was tired and fell asleep, Jael took a hammer and a stake and crept up to him and drove the stake through his temple into the ground, killing him)
‭‭22 “바락이 시스라를 찾으러 왔을 때 야엘은 그를 맞으며 “어서 오십시오. 당신이 찾는 사람을 내가 보여 드리겠습니다” 하였다. 그래서 그가 함께 들어가 보니 시스라는 죽어 있었고 그의 관자놀이에는 천막 말뚝이 박혀 있었다.”(When Barak came looking for Sisera, Jael greeted him and said, “Welcome. I will show you the man you are looking for.” So he went in and found Sisera dead and a tent stake driven through his temple)
‭‭23 “이와 같이 하나님은 가나안 왕 야빈을 이스라엘 백성 앞에서 패하게 하셨다.”(In this way, God defeated Jabin, king of Canaan, before the Israelites)
‭‭24 “그래서 이스라엘은 점점 강해져서 마침내 야빈왕과 그 백성을 멸망시키고 말았다.”(So Israel grew stronger until they destroyed King Jabin and his people)
‭‭
