[현대인성경 KLB 구약 잠언 31장] 왕에 대한 조언 advice to the king

1 “이것은 르무엘왕에게 그의 어머니가 일러 준 말씀이다:”These are the words that his mother told King Lemuel
‭‭2 “내 아들아, 내 태에서 난 아들아, 내가 서약으로 얻은 내 아들아,”My son, my son from my womb, my son by my pledge
‭‭3 “너는 네 정력을 여자들에게 소모하지 말아라. 왕들이 그것 때문에 망한다.”Do not waste your energy on women. Kings fall because of it
‭‭4 “르무엘아, 왕은 포도주를 마셔도 안 되고 통치자는 독주를 찾아서도 안 된다.”Lemuel, a king must not drink wine, and a ruler must not seek strong drink
‭‭5 “왕이 술을 마시게 되면 법을 잊어버리고 고난당하는 사람들의 인권을 짓밟기 쉽다.”When a king drinks, it is easy for him to forget the law and trample on the human rights of the suffering people
‭‭6 “독주는 다 죽게 된 사람에게, 포도주는 고민하는 사람에게 주어라.”Give strong drink to those who are about to die, and wine to those who are in trouble
‭‭7 “그러면 그들은 그것을 마시고 그들의 가난과 고통을 잊게 될 것이다.”Then they will drink it and forget their poverty and suffering
‭‭8 “너는 자기 스스로 말할 수 없는 사람들을 대변해 주고 불행한 사람들의 권리를 옹호해 주며”You speak for those who cannot speak for themselves; you defend the rights of the unfortunate;
‭‭9 “입을 열어 공정한 재판을 하고 가난하고 고통당하는 사람들의 억울한 문제를 해결해 주어라.”Open your mouth, conduct a fair trial, and solve the unfair problems of the poor and suffering people
‭‭10 “누가 현숙한 아내를 얻겠느냐? 그녀는 진주보다 더 소중하다.”Who can find a virtuous wife? she is more precious than pearls
‭‭11 “그런 여자의 남편은 아내를 믿기 때문에 아무것도 부족한 것이 없을 것이다.”The husband of such a woman will lack nothing because he trusts his wife
‭‭12 “그런 여자는 일평생 남편에게 선을 행하고 남편을 해치지 않는다.”Such a woman does good to her husband all her life and does not harm him
‭‭13 “그녀는 양털과 삼을 구해 부지런히 일하며”She worked diligently to find wool and flax
‭‭14 “상선처럼 먼 데서 양식을 가져오고”Like merchant ships, they bring provisions from far away
‭‭15 “날이 밝기도 전에 일찍 일어나서 가족들을 위해 아침 식사를 준비하며 여종에게 할 일을 일러 주고”I wake up early before dawn, prepare breakfast for my family, and tell my servant girl what to do
‭‭16 “나가서 밭을 보고 생각해 두었다가 그것을 사며 자기가 번 돈으로 포도원을 만들고”He went out and saw a field, thought about it, bought it, and planted a vineyard with the money he earned
‭‭17 “언제나 강인하고 근면하며 열심히 일한다.”Always strong, diligent and hard working
‭‭18 “그녀는 자기가 하는 일이 유익한 줄 알고 밤 늦게까지 일을 하며”She knew that what she was doing was beneficial, so she worked until late at night
‭‭19 “손수 물레질을 하여 실을 뽑고 베를 짜며”We spin yarn and weave by hand
‭‭20 “가난하고 불쌍한 사람들을 도와준다.”Help poor and needy people
‭‭21 “그녀는 모든 가족에게 입힐 따뜻한 옷을 마련해 놓았으므로 겨울이 닥쳐도 염려하지 않는다.”She doesn't worry when winter comes because she has warm clothes for everyone in her family
‭‭22 “그녀는 자기 침실을 아름답게 꾸미며 아름답고 고운 모시 옷과 자색 옷을 입는다.”She beautifies her bedroom and wears beautiful, fine linen and purple clothes
‭‭23 “그리고 그 남편도 지도급 인사로 알려져 존경을 받게 된다.”And the husband is also known as a leading figure and is respected
‭‭24 “그녀는 옷과 허리띠를 만들어 상인들에게 넘기기도 한다.”She also makes clothes and belts and passes them on to merchants
‭‭25 “그녀는 능력과 품위가 있고 앞날을 걱정하지 않으며”She is capable and dignified and has no worries about the future
‭‭26 “말을 지혜롭고 친절하게 하고”Speak wisely and kindly
‭‭27 “자기 집안 일을 잘 보살피며 놀고 먹지 않는다.”Take care of your own household chores and do not play or eat
‭‭28 “그 자녀들은 자기 어머니를 고맙게 생각하며 그 남편도 그녀에게”The children are grateful to their mother, and the husband is also grateful to her
‭‭29 ““세상에는 훌륭한 여성들이 많이 있지만 당신은 그 중에서도 가장 위대한 여성이오” 하고 칭찬한다.”“There are many great women in the world, but you are the greatest of them all.”
‭‭30 “고운 것도 거짓되고 아름다운 것도 헛되지만 두려운 마음으로 여호와를 섬기는 여성은 칭찬을 받을 것이다.”Fairness is false, beauty is vain, but a woman who serves Jehovah with a fearful heart will be praised
‭‭31 “그녀는 자기가 행한 일에 대한 보상을 받고 모든 사람들에게 칭찬을 받을 것이다.”She will be rewarded for her deeds and praised by all
