1 “여호와께서 이스라엘을 불쌍히 여기시고 다시 그들을 자기 백성으로 택하여 본래의 그들 땅에 살게 하실 것이며 외국 사람들도 그들과 함께 그 곳에 가서 살 것이다.”The LORD will have mercy on Israel and will take them as his people again and bring them to live in their own land, and foreigners will also go and live there with them
‭‭2 “많은 나라가 이스라엘 사람들이 본국으로 돌아가는 것을 도울 것이며 그들의 땅에 살려고 온 자들은 이스라엘 사람의 종이 되어 그들을 섬기고 한때 이스라엘을 정복한 자들이 이스라엘에게 정복당할 것이며 이스라엘은 한때 자기들을 괴롭히던 자들을 다스릴 것이다.”Many nations will help the Israelites return to their homeland, and those who come to live in their land will become slaves of the Israelites and serve them. Those who once conquered Israel will be conquered by Israel, and Israel will rule over those who once oppressed them
‭‭3 “여호와께서 자기 백성을 슬픔과 고통과 고역에서 해방시켜 안식을 주실 것이다.”Jehovah will give his people rest by freeing them from sorrow, pain, and toil
‭‭4 “그때 그들은 바빌론 왕을 조롱하며 이렇게 말할 것이다. “잔인한 왕이 쓰러졌구나. 네가 더 이상 아무도 괴롭히지 못할 것이다.”Then they will mock the king of Babylon and say: “The cruel king has fallen. you won't bother anyone anymore
‭‭5 “여호와께서 악한 통치자의 권력을 꺾어 버리셨다.”Jehovah broke the power of a wicked ruler
‭‭6 “네가 분노하여 여러 민족을 쳐서 괴롭히고 그들을 무자비하게 억압하여도 막을 자가 없었으나”In your anger you attacked and oppressed many nations and oppressed them mercilessly, but there was no one who could stop you
‭‭7 “이제는 온 세상이 평온을 되찾아 모든 사람이 기뻐서 노래하는구나.”Now the whole world has regained peace and everyone is singing with joy
‭‭8 “전나무와 레바논의 백향목까지도 네가 망한 것을 보고 기뻐하며 ‘네가 쓰러졌으니 올라와서 우리를 벨 자가 없다’ 하는구나.”Even the fir trees and the cedars of Lebanon rejoice at your destruction and say, ‘You have fallen, and no one will come up to cut us down.’
‭‭9 ““지옥의 거주자들이 너를 맞을 준비를 하느라고 야단들이다. 오래 전에 죽은 세상의 영웅들과 왕들이 다 일어서서”The denizens of hell are making a fuss as they prepare to welcome you. All the heroes and kings of the world who died long ago stand up
‭‭10 “너를 보고 입을 모아 ‘너도 별 수 없이 우리처럼 연약하게 되었구나’ 하고 외칠 것이다.”When they see you, they will shout with their mouths together, ‘You, too, had no choice but to become weak like us.’
‭‭11 “흥겨운 음악으로 인생을 즐기던 네 영화도 끝나고 이제는 네가 구더기를 깔고 지렁이를 담요처럼 덮게 되었구나.””The movie where you enjoyed life with exciting music has ended, and now you are covered in maggots and earthworms like a blanket
‭‭12 “샛별과 같은 바빌론 왕아, 네가 하늘에서 떨어졌구나. 한때는 네가 여러 나라를 정복하더니 이제는 어째서 땅에 던져졌느냐?”King of Babylon, like the morning star, you have fallen from heaven. Once you conquered many countries, but now why are you thrown to the ground?
‭‭13 “너는 속으로 이런 말을 하였다. “내가 하늘에 올라가 하나님의 별들 위에 내 보좌를 높이리라. 내가 북극 집회 산에 앉을 것이며”You said this to yourself. “I will ascend into heaven and exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the Mount of Meeting at the North Pole
‭‭14 “가장 높은 구름 위에 올라 제일 높은 자와 같이 될 것이다.””You will rise above the highest clouds and become like the highest
‭‭15 “그러나 너는 지옥의 가장 깊은 구덩이에 빠질 것이며”But you will fall into the deepest pit of hell
‭‭16 “그 곳에 있는 자들이 너를 자세히 보고 이렇게 말할 것이다. “이 사람이 천하를 뒤흔들며 세상 나라들을 벌벌 떨게 하던 자가 아니냐?”Those who are there will look closely at you and say: “Isn’t this the man who shook the world and made the kingdoms of the world tremble?
‭‭17 “이 사람이 수많은 도시를 파괴하며 온 세상을 황무지로 만들고 포로들을 자기 나라로 돌려보내지 않던 자가 아니냐?””Is this not the man who destroyed countless cities, turned the whole world into a wasteland, and did not return the captives to their own country?
‭‭18 “그래도 세상의 모든 왕들은 의젓하게 자기 무덤에 누워 있으나”Still, all the kings of the world lie proudly in their tombs
‭‭19 “너는 무덤이 없어 네 시체는 쓸모없는 나뭇가지처럼 던져져 전쟁으로 죽은 군인들의 시체로 덮일 것이니 길바닥에서 짓밟히는 시체와 다를 바 없을 것이다.”You will have no grave, your corpse will be thrown down like a useless branch and covered with the corpses of soldiers who died in war, no better than the corpses trampled on the streets
‭‭20 “네가 네 나라를 파멸시키고 네 백성을 죽였으므로 너는 다른 왕들처럼 장사되지 못할 것이며 너처럼 악을 행하는 자의 후손은 기억에서 영원히 사라질 것이다.”Because you destroyed your kingdom and killed your people, you will not be buried like other kings, and the descendants of those who practice evil like you will be forgotten forever
‭‭21 “너희는 이 악한 왕의 아들들을 학살하여 그들이 다시 일어나 세상 나라들을 정복하며 도시들을 재건하지 못하게 하라.”Slaughter the sons of this wicked king, so that they may not rise again and conquer the kingdoms of the world and rebuild their cities
‭‭22 “전능하신 여호와께서 말씀하신다. “내가 바빌론을 쳐서 파멸시키고 그 이름은 물론 지금 살아 있는 생존자들과 그들의 자손들과 그 후손들까지 모조리 없애 버릴 것이다.”This is what the Almighty Jehovah says: “I will strike Babylon and destroy her, and I will destroy her name and all who are still living, including their descendants and their descendants
‭‭23 “내가 또 바빌론을 늪이 많고 들짐승이 우글거리는 황폐한 땅으로 만들며 멸망의 빗자루로 그 땅을 쓸어 버릴 것이다. 이것은 전능한 나 여호와의 말이다.””I will also make Babylon a desolate land, full of swamps and teeming with wild animals, and I will sweep it away with the broom of destruction. This is what I, the Lord Almighty, say
‭‭24 “전능하신 여호와께서 맹세하시며 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “내가 계획한 것은 반드시 이루어질 것이며 내가 하기로 마음 먹은 것은 반드시 실행될 것이다.”The Lord Almighty swore and said: “What I have planned will come to pass, and what I have decided to do will come to fruition.”
‭‭25 “내가 이스라엘 땅에서 앗시리아 사람을 파멸시키고 그들을 나의 산에서 짓밟을 것이며 내 백성을 앗시리아의 멍에와 그들의 무거운 짐에서 벗어나게 할 것이다.”I will destroy the Assyrians in the land of Israel and trample them on my mountains, and I will free my people from the yoke of Assyria and from their burdens
‭‭26 “이것이 온 세계에 대한 내 계획이니 내가 손을 펴서 세상 나라들을 벌할 것이다.””This is my plan for the whole world; I will stretch out my hand to punish the kingdoms of the world
‭‭27 “전능하신 여호와께서 이렇게 하시기로 작정하셨으니 누가 그 계획을 좌절시킬 수 있겠는가? 그가 벌하시려고 손을 펴셨으니 누가 그것을 막을 수 있겠는가?”Since Almighty Jehovah has decided to do this, who can thwart the plan? He has stretched out His hand to punish, and who can stop it?
‭‭28 “이것은 아하스왕이 죽던 해에 내가 받은 말씀이다:”These are the words I received from King Ahaz in the year he died
‭‭29 “블레셋 사람들아, 너희를 치던 막대기가 부러졌다고 기뻐하지 말아라. 뱀이 죽어도 그보다 더 무서운 독사가 있고 독사보다도 더 무서운 날아다니는 불뱀이 있다.”Philistines, do not rejoice because the rod that struck you has been broken. Even if a snake dies, there are venomous snakes that are more terrifying than that, and there are flying fiery snakes that are even more terrifying than venomous snakes
‭‭30 “여호와께서는 자기 백성의 가난한 자들에게 목자가 되셔서 그들을 안전하게 살게 하실 것이지만 너희 블레셋 사람들에게는 무서운 흉년이 들게 하여 살아 남는 자가 없게 하실 것이다.”The LORD will be a shepherd to the poor of his people and will keep them safe, but he will cause a terrible famine for you Philistines, so that no one will survive
‭‭31 “블레셋 성들아, 통곡하라! 너희는 다 망하게 되었다. 잘 훈련된 군인들이 북쪽에서 구름떼처럼 몰려오고 있다.”O Philistine cities, wail! You are all ruined. Well-trained soldiers are coming like a cloud from the north
‭‭32 “우리가 블레셋 사신들에게 어떻게 대답하면 좋을까? 우리는 그들에게 여호와께서 시온을 세우시고 고통당하는 자기 백성이 거기서 피난처를 찾게 하실 것이라고 말하겠다.”How should we respond to the Philistine envoys? We will tell them that the Lord will establish Zion and that his afflicted people will find refuge there
