1 “요시야의 아들인 유다의 여호야김왕 4년에 여호와께서 나에게 말씀 하셨다.”In the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, the word of the LORD came to me
‭‭2 ““너는 두루마리를 가져다가 요시야가 왕이 되었을 때부터 지금까지 내가 이스라엘과 유다와 모든 나라에 대하여 너에게 말한 것을 다 기록하라.”Take a scroll and write on it all that I have spoken to you concerning Israel and Judah and all the nations, from the time Josiah became king until now
‭‭3 “유다 백성들이 내가 그들에게 내리기로 작정한 모든 재앙에 대하여 듣게 되면 아마 그들이 악한 길에서 돌아설 것이다. 그들이 만일 악한 길에서 돌아서기만 하면 내가 그들의 악과 죄를 용서하겠다.””When the people of Judah hear about all the disaster I plan to bring on them, they will probably turn from their evil ways. If they turn from their evil ways, I will forgive their evil and their sin
‭‭4 “그래서 나는 네리야의 아들 바룩을 불러 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하신 모든 것을 받아 쓰게 하였다. 바룩은 내가 불러 주는 여호와의 모든 말씀을 두루마리에 그대로 다 기록하였다.”So I called Baruch son of Neriah, and he wrote down all that the LORD had spoken to me. Baruch wrote on a scroll all the words of the LORD that I dictated to him
‭‭5 “그리고 나는 바룩에게 이렇게 말하였다. “나는 이제 여호와의 집에 들어갈 수 없는 몸이 되었다.”And I said to Baruch, “I am no longer able to enter the house of the LORD
‭‭6 “그러므로 너는 금식일에 성전에 들어가서 내가 불러 준 대로 네가 두루마리에 기록한 여호와의 말씀을 백성들에게 낭독해 주고 또 유다의 여러 성에서 온 사람들에게도 그것을 낭독해 주어라.”Therefore, on the day of fasting, go into the temple and read to the people the words of the LORD that you have written in the scroll at my dictation. You shall also read them to the men who come from the towns of Judah
‭‭7 “이 백성에 대한 여호와의 분노가 대단하기 때문에 아마 그들이 여호와께 기도하고 각자 악한 길에서 돌아설지도 모른다.””Because the anger of Jehovah against this people is so great, perhaps they will pray to Jehovah and each will turn from his wicked ways
‭‭8 “네리야의 아들 바룩은 내가 그에게 지시한 대로 두루마리에 기록된 여호와의 말씀을 성전에서 낭독하였다.”Baruch son of Neriah read the words of the LORD from the scroll in the temple, just as I commanded him
‭‭9 “요시야의 아들인 유다의 여호야김왕 5년 9월에 예루살렘에 있는 모든 백성들과 유다의 여러 성에서 예루살렘으로 온 모든 백성들에게 금식이 선포되었다.”In the ninth month of the fifth year of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, a fast was proclaimed for all the people in Jerusalem and for all the people who had come from the towns of Judah to Jerusalem
‭‭10 “이때 바룩은 사반의 아들인 궁중 서기관 그마랴의 방에서 모든 백성들에게 그 두루마리에 기록된 말씀을 낭독했는데 그 방은 성전 새문 입구 곁의 윗뜰에 있는 방이었다.”At that time, Baruch read the words of the scroll to all the people in the room of Gemariah son of Shaphan, the royal secretary, which was in the upper court near the entrance to the New Gate of the temple
‭‭11 “사반의 손자이며 그마랴의 아들인 미가야는 그 책에 기록된 여호와의 말씀을 다 듣고”Micaiah, the son of Gemariah and the grandson of Shaphan, heard all the words of the LORD written in the book
‭‭12 “궁전의 서기관 방으로 내려갔다. 그때 거기에는 모든 궁중 대신들이 앉아 있었다. 그들은 서기관 엘리사마와 스마야의 아들 들라야와 악볼의 아들 엘라단과 사반의 아들 그마랴와 하나냐의 아들 시드기야였으며 그 외에도 여러 대신들이 앉아 있었다.”He went down to the secretary's room in the palace, where all the officials of the palace were sitting: Elishama the secretary, Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, Elnathan the son of Achbor, Gemariah the son of Shaphan, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and many other officials sitting there
‭‭13 “미가야가 바룩이 백성들에게 낭독한 것을 들은 그대로 그들에게 말하자”Then Micaiah told them exactly what he had heard Baruch read to the people
‭‭14 “모든 대신들이 구시의 증손이요 셀레먀의 손자이며 느다냐의 아들인 여후디를 바룩에게 보내며 백성에게 낭독한 두루마리를 가져오라고 지시하였다. 네리야의 아들인 바룩이 두루마리를 가져오자”Then all the princes sent Jehudi son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Bring the scroll from which he had read to the people.” So Baruch son of Neriah brought the scroll
‭‭15 “그들은 바룩에게 앉아서 그것을 낭독하라고 하였다. 바룩이 낭독하자”They told Baruch to sit down and read it. So Baruch read it
‭‭16 “그들은 그 모든 말씀을 듣고 놀라 서로 바라보며 바룩에게 이 모든 말을 왕에게 보고하겠다고 하였다.”When they heard all these words, they looked at each other in amazement and said to Baruch, “We will report all these words to the king.”
‭‭17 “그러고서 그들은 바룩에게 물었다. “네가 어떻게 해서 이 모든 말을 기록하게 되었느냐? 예레미야가 이것을 받아 쓰게 하였느냐?””Then they asked Baruch, “How did you write all these words? Did Jeremiah dictate them?
‭‭18 ““그렇습니다. 그가 이 모든 것을 나에게 불러 주기에 내가 먹으로 그것을 이 두루마리에 기록하였습니다.””Yes, he told me all these things, so I wrote them down in this scroll
‭‭19 ““너는 가서 예레미야와 함께 숨고 아무에게도 너희가 숨어 있는 곳을 알리지 말아라.””Go and hide, you and Jeremiah, and don't tell anyone where you are hiding
‭‭20 “대신들은 그 두루마리를 서기관 엘리사마의 방에 두고 뜰에 있는 왕에게 가서 이 모든 것을 말하였다.”The officials left the scroll in the room of Elishama the secretary and went to the king in the courtyard and told him all these things
‭‭21 “왕이 여후디를 보내 그 두루마리를 가져오게 하자 여후디가 서기관 엘리사마의 방에서 그것을 가져다가 왕과 그 주위에 둘러선 모든 대신들에게 낭독하였다.”The king sent Jehudi to get the scroll. Jehudi took it from the room of Elishama the secretary and read it to the king and all the officials standing around him
‭‭22 “그 때는 겨울이었다. 그래서 왕은 겨울 궁전에 앉았고 그 앞에는 불을 피운 화로가 놓여 있었다.”It was winter at that time. So the king sat in the winter palace, and before him was a brazier with a fire burning
‭‭23 “여후디가 세 편 네 편씩 읽어나갈 때마다 왕은 작은 칼로 그것을 계속 잘라서 화로에 던져 넣어 결국 두루마리 전체를 다 태워 버렸다.”As Jehudi read three or four chapters, the king continued to cut the scroll with a small knife and threw it into the fire until the entire scroll was burned
‭‭24 “왕과 그의 신하들은 이 모든 말을 듣고도 두려워하거나 조금도 뉘우치는 기색이 없었다.”The king and his officials were not afraid or repentant even after hearing all these words
‭‭25 “엘라단과 들라야와 그마랴가 왕에게 두루마리를 사르지 말라고 간청했으나 그는 듣지 않고”Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah pleaded with the king not to burn the scroll, but he would not listen
‭‭26 “오히려 그의 아들 여라므엘과 아스리엘의 아들 스라야와 압디엘의 아들 셀레먀에게 서기관 바룩과 나 예레미야를 잡으라고 명령하였다. 그러나 여호와께서는 우리를 숨겨 주셨다.”Instead, he commanded Jerahmeel his son, Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdiel to seize Baruch the scribe and me, Jeremiah. But the LORD hid us
‭‭27 “내가 불러 준 대로 바룩이 기록한 두루마리의 말씀을 왕이 불사른 후에 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨다.”After the king had burned the scroll with the words that Baruch had written at my dictation, the word of the LORD came to me
‭‭28 ““너는 다른 두루마리를 가져다가 유다 왕 여호야김이 불사른 그 첫 두루마리에 기록된 모든 말을 다시 기록하라.”Take another scroll and write on it all the words that were on the first scroll, which Jehoiakim king of Judah burned
‭‭29 “그리고 너는 유다 왕 여호야김에게 나 여호와가 이렇게 말한다고 일러 주어라: 네가 이 두루마리를 불사르고 예레미야에게 ‘너는 어째서 바빌로니아 왕이 이 땅을 반드시 멸망시키고 사람과 짐승을 모조리 죽일 것이라고 기록하였느냐?’ 하였다.”Then tell Jehoiakim king of Judah, ‘Thus says the LORD: You burned this scroll and said to Jeremiah, ‘Why did you write on it that the king of Babylon would surely destroy this land and destroy both man and beast?’
‭‭30 “그러므로 나 여호와가 유다 왕 너 여호야김에게 말한다. 너에게는 다윗의 왕위에 앉을 후손이 없을 것이며 네 시체는 밖에 던져져서 낮에는 더위를 입고 밤에는 추위를 당할 것이다.”Therefore thus says the LORD to Jehoiakim king of Judah: You will have no descendant to sit on the throne of David, and your body will be thrown out into the open, to the heat by day and to the frost by night
‭‭31 “내가 너와 너의 가족뿐만 아니라 너의 신하들의 죄에 대해서도 벌할 것이다. 내가 너희와 예루살렘 주민들과 유다 백성에게 미리 경고하였으나 아무도 듣지 않았다. 그러므로 내가 선언한 모든 재앙을 너희 모두에게 내릴 것이다.””I will punish you and your family, as well as your servants, for the sins of your servants. I warned you and the people of Jerusalem and the people of Judah beforehand, but no one listened. Therefore, I will bring on you all the disasters I have pronounced
‭‭32 “그래서 나는 다른 두루마리를 가져다가 네리야의 아들인 서기관 바룩에게 주었으며 그는 내가 불러 주는 대로 유다의 여호야김왕이 불사른 두루마리에 기록된 모든 말씀을 그대로 다 기록하고 또 그와 비슷한 말도 많이 첨가하였다.”So I took another scroll and gave it to Baruch son of Neriah the scribe, and he wrote on it from my dictation all the words that were in the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned. He added many similar words to them
