1 “이것은 주 여호와께서 에돔에 대하여 말씀하신 오바댜의 예언이다: 여호와께서 자기 사자를 여러 나라에 보내셨다. 우리는 그의 사자가 “일어나라. 에돔을 치러 가자!” 하고 말하는 소리를 들었다.”This is the prophecy of Obadiah concerning Edom, which the Lord God spoke: The Lord sent his messenger to the nations, and we heard his messenger say, “Get up, let us go against Edom!”
‭‭2 “여호와께서 에돔에게 말씀하신다. “내가 여러 나라 가운데서 너를 보잘것없는 나라로 만들겠다. 네가 크게 멸시를 당할 것이다.”The Lord says to Edom: “I will make you insignificant among the nations, and you will be greatly despised
‭‭3 “네가 높은 산악 지대에 산다고 해서 ‘누가 나를 아래로 끌어내릴 수 있겠느냐?’ 하고 말하지만 너는 네 교만에 속고 있다.”You say, ‘Who can bring me down?’ because you live on a high mountain, but you are deceived by your pride
‭‭4 “네가 비록 독수리처럼 높이 올라 네 보금자리를 별 사이에 만들지라도 내가 거기서 너를 끌어내릴 것이다.”Even if you soar high like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down
‭‭5 ““밤에 도둑이 들어도 그들은 자기들이 원하는 것만 가져가며 사람들이 포도를 따도 모조리 따지 않고 얼마쯤은 남겨 둔다. 그러나 네 원수들은 너를 완전히 휩쓸어 버릴 것이다.”Even if thieves come in at night, they take only what they want, and when people pick grapes, they do not pick all of them, but leave some behind. But your enemies will completely sweep you away
‭‭6 “에서의 후손아, 네 보물이 모조리 약탈당할 것이다.”Descendants of Esau, all your treasures will be plundered
‭‭7 “너의 동맹국들이 너를 네 국경 밖으로 밀어낼 것이며 너의 우방들이 너를 속여 정복하고 너와 식사를 같이하는 네 친구들이 너를 쓰러뜨릴 함정을 팔 것이나 너는 지각이 없으므로 그것을 알지 못할 것이다.”Your allies will push you beyond your borders, your friends will deceive you and conquer you, and your friends who eat with you will dig traps for you, but you will not know it, because you have no sense
‭‭8 ““그 날에 내가 에돔을 벌하여 지혜로운 자들을 모조리 없애 버리겠다.”On that day I will punish Edom and destroy all its wise men
‭‭9 “데만아, 너의 용사들이 놀랄 것이며 에돔에 있는 모든 사람들이 죽음을 당할 것이다.”Deman, your warriors will be astonished, and all who are in Edom will be slain
‭‭10 ““네가 야곱의 후손인 네 형제들을 약탈하고 죽였으므로 네가 멸망하여 영원히 수치를 당할 것이다.”You will be destroyed and put to shame forever because you have plundered and killed your brothers, the descendants of Jacob
‭‭11 “원수들이 예루살렘을 침략하여 그 재물을 약탈하고 그 성을 제비 뽑아 나눌 때에 네가 그 곁에 있었으니 너도 그들의 원수와 다를 것이 없다.”When the enemies came against Jerusalem and plundered its treasures and divided the city by lot, you were with them; you were no different from their enemies
‭‭12 “너는 네 형제들의 불행을 만족스러운 듯이 바라보거나 유다 백성의 패망을 기뻐하거나 그들이 고난을 당할 때 우쭐대지 말았어야 했다.”You should not have looked with satisfaction upon the misfortune of your brothers, nor rejoiced at the ruin of the people of Judah, nor been proud when they suffered
‭‭13 “내 백성이 재앙을 당하는 날에 너는 그들의 성에 들어가서 만족스러운 듯이 그들의 고통을 바라보며 그들의 재물에 손을 대고”On the day of my people's disaster, you will go into their city and look at their misery with satisfaction and put your hand on their wealth
‭‭14 “또 그들이 고난을 당할 때에 사거리에 서서 도망하는 자들을 붙잡아 그들을 원수들에게 넘겨 주었다.”And when they were in trouble, he stood at the crossroads and caught those who fled and handed them over to their enemies
‭‭15 ““나 여호와가 온 세상을 심판할 날이 다가오고 있다. 에돔아, 네가 행한 대로 내가 너에게 갚아 주겠다. 네 행위가 네 머리로 돌아갈 것이다.”The day is coming when I, the Lord, will judge all the earth. I will repay you, Edom, for what you have done. Your deeds will come upon your own head
‭‭16 “네가 나의 거룩한 산에서 형벌의 쓴 잔을 마신 것처럼 네 주변의 모든 나라들도 그 잔을 마실 것이다. 그들은 한없이 마시고 비틀거리다가 아주 사라지고 말 것이다.””As you have drunk the bitter cup of punishment on my holy mountain, so all the nations around you will drink it. They will drink endlessly and stagger until they are no more
‭‭17 ““그러나 시온산에 구원이 있을 것이며 그 곳이 거룩하게 되어 이스라엘이 그 땅을 다시 소유할 것이다.”But there will be salvation on Mount Zion, and it will be holy, and Israel will possess the land again
‭‭18 “야곱의 후손은 불과 같고 요셉의 후손은 불꽃과 같으며 에서의 후손은 지푸라기와 같을 것이다. 그래서 그들이 그것을 태울 것이니 에서의 후손 가운데 살아 남을 자가 없을 것이다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.””The descendants of Jacob will be like fire, the descendants of Joseph like a flame, and the descendants of Esau like stubble. So they will burn it, and none of Esau's descendants will be left, declares the LORD
‭‭19 “남쪽 네겝 지방에 사는 사람들은 에돔의 산악 지대를 점령할 것이며 유다 저지대에 사는 사람들은 블레셋 땅을 소유하고 그들은 또 에브라임 들과 사마리아 들을 소유할 것이며 베냐민 사람들은 길르앗 땅을 차지할 것이다.”Those who live in the Negev will possess the hill country of Edom, and those who live in the lowlands of Judah will possess the land of the Philistines, and they will possess the land of Ephraim and Samaria, and the people of Benjamin will possess the land of Gilead
‭‭20 “이스라엘의 포로들은 돌아와서 북으로 사르밧에 이르는 페니키아 연안 일대를 점령할 것이며 스바랏에 있는 예루살렘의 포로들은 네겝 지방의 성들을 차지할 것이다.”The exiles of Israel will return and take possession of the Phoenician coast northward to Zarephath, and the exiles of Jerusalem in Sepharad will take possession of the cities of the Negev
‭‭21 “구원자들이 시온산으로 올라와서 에돔을 다스릴 것이며 여호와께서 왕이 되실 것이다.”The Saviors will ascend Mount Zion and rule over Edom, and Jehovah will be King
