[현대인성경 KLB 구약 신명기 17장] 우상숭배자를 처벌하는 규정 : Rules to punish idolaters

1 “여러분은 흠이 있는 소나 양을 여러분의 하나님 여호와께 드리지 마십시 오. 여호와께서는 그런 것을 미워하십니다.”(You must not offer a blemished ox or sheep to the LORD your God. Jehovah hates that)
‭‭2-3 “여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 주신 성 에서 어떤 남자나 여자가 여호와의 계약을 어기고 내가 명령하지 않은 다른 신이나 해와 달과 별을 섬기고 절함으로 악한 짓을 하는 자가 있다는 소문이 들리면”(If a report is heard that in the city the Lord your God is giving you, there is a man or a woman who is breaking the covenant of the Lord and worshiping and bowing down to other gods, the sun, moon, and stars that I have not commanded, and doing evil things)
‭‭4 “여러분은 그 일을 자세히 조사해 보고 만일 그런 더러운 일이 이스라엘 백성 가운데 있었다는 것이 사실로 밝혀지면”(Investigate the matter closely, and if it turns out that such a dirty thing was true among the Israelites,)
‭‭5 “여러분은 그런 사람을 성 밖으로 끌어내어 돌로 쳐죽이십시오.”(Take that person out of the city and stone him to death)
‭‭6 “그러나 죽일 때는 적어도 두 사람 이상의 증인이 있어야 하며 한 사람의 증인만으로는 죽일 수 없습니다.”(However, when killing, there must be at least two witnesses, and only one witness cannot kill)
‭‭7 “그리고 증인이 먼저 돌을 들어 치고 그 다음에 모든 군중이 돌로 치도록 하십시오. 여러분은 이렇게 하여 여러분 가운데 그런 악을 제거해야 합니다.”(And let the witness first throw stones at you, and then let the whole crowd throw stones at you. You must do this to rid yourself of such evil)
8 “만일 여러분의 법정에서 해결할 수 없는 살인이나 폭행이나 그 밖의 소송 문제가 제기되면 여러분은 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 지정하신 예배처로 가서”(If there is a case of murder or assault or any other lawsuit that cannot be settled in your courts, you must go to the place of worship appointed by the Lord your God)
‭‭9 “레위 사람의 제사장과 담당 재판관에게 의뢰하십시오. 그러면 그들이 판결해 줄 것입니다.”(Ask the priests of the Levites and the judges in charge. then they will judge)
‭‭10-11 “여러분은 그들의 판결에 그대로 따르고 그들이 지시한 것을 조금도 어기지 마십시오.”(You must obey their judgments and do not transgress any of their instructions)
‭‭12 “만일 어떤 사람이 여러분의 하나님 여호와를 섬기는 제사장이나 재판관의 판결을 무시하고 복종하지 않으면 여러분은 그를 처형하여 이스라엘에서 다시는 그런 일이 없도록 하십시오.”(If a man despises and does not obey the judgment of the priest or the judge who serves the Lord your God, you shall put him to death, so that this will never happen again in Israel)
‭‭13 “그러면 모든 사람들이 그것을 듣고 두려워하여 두 번 다시 그런 짓을 하지 않을 것입니다.”(Then everyone will hear it and be afraid to do it again)
14 “여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 여러분에게 주신 땅을 점령하여 거기서 살게 될 때 여러분의 주변 나라들처럼 여러분도 왕을 원한다면”(When the Lord your God takes possession of the land he has given you, and you live in it, if you want a king like the nations around you,)
‭‭15 “반드시 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 택하신 사람을 왕으로 세우십시오. 그 왕은 반드시 이스라엘 사람이어야 하며 외국인이어서는 안 됩니다.”(Be sure to appoint a king whom the Lord your God has chosen. The king must be an Israelite and not a foreigner)
‭‭16 “왕은 말을 많이 소유해서는 안 되며 말을 사려고 백성을 이집트로 보내서도 안 됩니다. 이것은 여호와께서 여러분에게 다시는 그리로 돌아가지 말라고 말씀하셨기 때문입니다.”(A king must not own many horses, nor must he send his people to Egypt to buy horses. This is because the LORD has told you not to go back there again)
‭‭17 “왕은 또 아내를 많이 두어서는 안 됩니다. 그렇게 되면 그 마음이 여호와를 떠나게 될 것입니다. 그리고 그는 자기를 위해 은과 금을 많이 쌓아 두어서도 안 됩니다.”(A king must not have many wives. In that case, the heart will turn away from Jehovah. And he must not store up much silver and gold for himself)
‭‭18 “누구든지 왕위에 오르는 사람은 레위 지파의 제사장들이 보관하고 있는 율법서를 베껴서”(Whoever comes to the throne must copy the book of the law, which is kept by the priests of the tribe of Levi)
‭‭19 “그 사본을 자기 곁에 두고 평생 동안 읽으며 그의 하나님 여호와를 두려운 마음으로 섬기는 법을 배우고 거기에 기록된 모든 법과 규정을 충실히 지켜야 합니다.”(He must keep a copy by his side and read it all his life, learn to fearfully serve the Lord his God, and faithfully observe all the laws and regulations written therein)
‭‭20 “그러면 그가 다른 사람보다 낫다는 교만한 마음을 품지 않게 되고 어떤 경우에도 여호와의 명령을 어기는 일이 없을 것입니다. 그렇게 함으로써 그와 그 후손이 이스라엘을 오랫동안 통치하게 될 것입니다.”(Then he will not have the arrogance of being better than others, and he will not violate Jehovah's commands under any circumstances. In doing so, he and his descendants will rule Israel for a long time)
