1 “요시야는 8세에 왕위에 올라 예루살렘에서 31년을 통치하였다. 그리고 그의 어머니는 보스갓 사람인 아다야 의 딸 여디다였다.”Josiah came to the throne at the age of 8 and reigned 31 years in Jerusalem. And his mother was Jetita the daughter of Adaiah, a Boscathite
‭‭2 “그는 여호와께서 보시기에 옳은 일을 하였으며 그의 조상 다윗을 본받아 오직 한결같은 마음으로 여호와를 섬겼다.”He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and followed the example of his ancestor David, serving the Lord with a single heart
‭‭3 “요시야는 왕이 된 지 18년에 므술람의 손자이며 아살랴의 아들인 서기관 사반을 성전으로 보내며 이렇게 지시하였다.”In the 18th year of his reign, Josiah sent Shaphan the scribe, son of Azaliah and grandson of Meshullam, to the temple, giving these instructions:
‭‭4 ““너는 대제사장 힐기야에게 가서 그에게 성전 출입구 담당 제사장들이 백성들에게서 거둔 돈을 계산하여”Go to Hilkiah the high priest and tell him how much money the priests who were in charge of the entrance to the temple took from the people
‭‭5-6 “그것을 성전 수리 담당자에게 주어 목수와 건축자와 석수의 임금으로 지불하고 또 목재와 다듬은 돌을 사서 성전을 수리하게 하라고 일러 주어라.””Give it to the men in charge of repairing the temple, and tell them to pay for it with the wages of the carpenters, builders, and stonemasons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the temple
‭‭7 “그러나 성전 수리 담당자가 일을 정직하게 하였으므로 그에게 맡긴 수리 비용을 회계할 필요가 없었다.”However, since the repairman of the temple was honest in his work, there was no need to account for the repairs entrusted to him
‭‭8 “어느 날 대제사장 힐기야가 서기관 사반에게 가서 “내가 성전에서 여호와의 율법책을 발견하였습니다!” 하고 그 율법책을 사반에게 주자 사반은 그것을 읽어 보고”One day Hilkiah the high priest went to Shaphan the scribe and said: "I have found the book of the law of the Lord in the temple!" And he gave the book of the law to Shaphan, who read it
‭‭9 “왕에게 가서 “왕의 신하들은 성전에 있던 그 돈을 성전 수리 담당자들에게 넘겨 주었습니다” 하고 보고한 다음”They went to the king and reported, “The king’s servants handed over the money that was in the temple to the men in charge of repairing the temple.”
‭‭10 ““제사장 힐기야가 나에게 이 책을 주었습니다” 하며 그것을 왕 앞에서 큰 소리로 읽었다.”Hilkiah the priest gave me this book,” and read it aloud before the king
‭‭11 “왕은 그 율법책에 기록된 말씀을 듣자 두려워서 자기 옷을 찢고”When the king heard the words written in the book of the law, he was afraid and tore his clothes
‭‭12 “제사장 힐기야와 사반의 아들 아히감과 미가야의 아들 악볼과 서기관 사반과 왕의 보좌관 이사야에게 이렇게 명령하였다.”Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor the son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Isaiah the king's adviser gave these orders:
‭‭13 ““당신들은 가서 나와 유다 백성을 위해 이 책의 말씀에 대하여 여호와께 물어 보시오. 우리 조상들이 이 책의 말씀대로 순종하지 않고 우리에 관해서 기록된 이 책의 말씀을 따라 살지 않았기 때문에 여호와께서는 우리에게 몹시 노하고 있소.””You go and inquire of the LORD about the words of this book for me and for the people of Judah. The Lord is very angry with us because our ancestors did not obey the words of this book and did not live according to the words of this book written about us
14 “그래서 그들은 여자 예언자 훌다를 찾아갔는데 그녀는 할하스의 손자이며 디과의 아들인 예복 담당자 살룸의 아내로 예루살렘의 둘째 구역에 살고 있었다. 그들이 찾아온 사연을 말하자”So they went to the prophetess Huldah, the wife of Shallum the rober, grandson of Halhas, son of Digua, and living in the second district of Jerusalem. Let's tell the story of how they came
‭‭15 “훌다는 왕에게 돌아가서 여호와의 말씀을 이렇게 전하라고 일러 주었다.”Huldah returned to the king and told him to tell the word of the Lord in this way
‭‭16 ““나는 네가 읽은 그 율법책에 기록된 대로 예루살렘과 그 주민을 벌하겠다.”I will punish Jerusalem and its inhabitants according to what is written in the book of the law which you have read
‭‭17 “그들은 나를 저버리고 다른 신을 섬겼으며 그들이 행하는 모든 일로 나를 노하게 하였다. 그러므로 예루살렘에 대한 나의 분노가 그치지 않을 것이다.”They have forsaken me and served other gods, and have angered me with all that they do. Therefore, my anger against Jerusalem will not cease
‭‭18 “그러나 너는 그 책에 기록된 말씀을 들었을 때”But when you hear the words written in the book
‭‭19 “내가 예루살렘과 그 주민을 벌할 것과 이 땅이 저주를 받아 황폐하게 될 것을 알고 네가 회개하는 마음으로 옷을 찢고 통곡하며 내 앞에서 자신을 낮추었으므로 내가 네 기도를 들었다.”I have heard your prayers because you tore your clothes and humbled yourself in repentance before me, weeping, knowing that I would punish Jerusalem and its inhabitants and that the land would be cursed and desolate
‭‭20 “그러므로 내가 너를 네 조상들에게 돌아가 묘실에 평안히 잠들게 하겠다. 너는 내가 예루살렘에 내릴 재앙을 네 눈으로 보지 않을 것이다.” 그래서 그들은 그 말을 그대로 왕에게 전하였다.”Therefore, I will return you to your ancestors and put you to rest in peace in the tomb. You will not see with your own eyes the plagues I will bring on Jerusalem.” So they told the king exactly what they said
