1 “나는 삶에 지쳐 버렸다. 마음껏 불평도 해 보고 내 영혼의 괴로움을 털어놓아야겠다.”I am tired of life. I will complain as much as I want and confess the pain of my soul
‭‭2 “내가 하나님께 말하리라. ‘하나님이시여, 나를 죄인으로 단정하지 마시고 무엇 때문에 나를 죄인 취급하시는지 말씀해 주소서.”I will speak to God. ‘God, don’t judge me as a sinner, but tell me why you treat me like a sinner
‭‭3 “주의 손으로 직접 만드신 나는 학대하시고 멸시하시면서 악인의 책략을 너그럽게 보시는 것이 옳은 일이십니까?”Is it right for you to tolerate the schemes of the wicked while abusing and despising me, the one you made with your own hands?
‭‭4 “주께서는 육신의 눈을 가지셨습니까? 어째서 사람이 보듯이 보십니까?”Have you got physical eyes? Why do you see as humans do?
‭‭5 “주의 날이 인생의 날처럼 짧습니까?”Are the days of the Lord as short as the days of life?
‭‭6 “무엇 때문에 주께서는 내 허물을 찾고 내 죄를 꼬치꼬치 밝혀내시려고 하십니까?”Why do you want to find my faults and expose my sins?
‭‭7 “주는 나에게 죄가 없는 것도 아시고 주의 손에서 나를 벗어나게 할 자도 없다는 것을 잘 알고 계시지 않습니까?”Don’t you know that I am without sin and that no one can free me from your hand?
‭‭8 ““ ‘주의 손으로 나를 빚어 만드시고 이제는 오히려 나를 없애 버릴 작정이십니까?”Have you fashioned me with your own hands and now are you planning to destroy me?
‭‭9 “주여, 나를 흙으로 만드신 것을 기억하소서. 주께서는 나를 다시 티끌로 돌려보내시려고 하십니까?”Lord, remember that you made me from dust. Are you going to send me back to dust?
‭‭10 “주는 나를 우유처럼 쏟아 부으시고 치즈처럼 굳게 하셨습니다.”You poured me out like milk and hardened me like cheese
‭‭11 “그러고서 나를 살과 가죽으로 입히시고 뼈와 힘줄로 얽어 매셨으며”Then he clothed me with flesh and skin and bound me with bones and sinews
‭‭12 “나에게 생명을 주시고 사랑을 베푸셔서 주의 보살핌으로 내 영을 지키셨습니다.”You gave me life, showed me love, and protected my spirit with your care
‭‭13-14 ““ ‘그러나 나는 주께서 나를 지켜 보시다가 만일 내가 범죄하면 나를 죄인으로 인정하여 용서하지 않으실 것을 알고 있습니다.”But I know that the Lord is watching over me, and if I sin, He will not forgive me as a sinner
‭‭15 “내가 만일 악하다면 나에게 화가 미칠 것이지만 죄가 없다고 해도 내가 머리를 들 수 없는 것은 내가 수치감에 빠져 내 고통을 의식하기 때문입니다.”If I am evil, woe to me, but even if I am not guilty, I cannot lift up my head because I am consumed by shame and conscious of my pain
‭‭16 “내가 머리를 치켜들면 주께서는 사자처럼 나를 덮쳐 무서운 위력을 다시 나타내십니다.”When I lift up my head, the Lord pounces on me like a lion and shows his terrifying power again
‭‭17 “주께서 증인을 번갈아 세워 나를 괴롭게 하시며 나에게 대한 분노를 점점 더하시니 군대가 번갈아 나를 치는 것 같습니다.”The Lord troubles me by appointing witnesses one after another, and increases his anger against me; it seems as if armies are attacking me one after another
‭‭18 ““ ‘그런데 주께서는 무엇 때문에 나를 태어나게 하셨습니까? 내가 차라리 아무도 보기 전에 죽었으면 좋을 뻔하였습니다.”But why did you give me birth? I wish I had died before anyone saw it
‭‭19 “그랬더라면 내가 생기지 않은 것과 같이 되어 태에서 바로 무덤으로 가고 말았을 것입니다.”If that were the case, I would have been as if I had never been born and would have gone straight from the womb to the grave
‭‭20-21 “나의 짧은 생이 거의 끝나지 않았습니까? 제발 좀 내버려 두십시오. 나는 잠시라도 평안한 시간을 갖고 싶습니다. 나는 곧 다시 돌아올 수 없는 곳으로 가게 될 것입니다.”Is my short life almost over? Please leave me alone. I want to have a moment of peace. I will soon be in a place of no return
‭‭22 “그 곳은 어둡고 음산하며 죽음의 그늘이 져서 무질서하고 광명도 흑암과 같은 곳입니다.’ ””It is dark and gloomy, the shadow of death is there, it is disorderly, and the light is like darkness
