1 “여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. “너는 가서 토기장이에게 질그릇 하나를 사고 백성 가운데 나이 많은 어른들과 제사장 몇 사람을 데리고”The LORD said to me: “Go and buy a pottery from the potter, and take with you some of the elders of the people and some of the priests
‭‭2 “‘질그릇 조각의 문’ 이란 이름을 가진 동문 입구 곁의 힌놈 골짜기로 가서 이렇게 선포하라:”Go to the Hinnom Valley near the entrance to the East Gate, which has the name ‘Gate of Pottery Pieces’, and proclaim this
‭‭3 “유다의 왕들과 예루살렘 주민들아, 여호와의 말씀을 들어라. 전능하신 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨다. ‘보라, 내가 듣는 자들의 귀가 멍멍할 정도로 이 곳에 무서운 재앙을 내리겠다.”Hear the word of the LORD, you kings of Judah and residents of Jerusalem. This is what the Almighty Jehovah, the God of Israel, says: ‘Look, I am going to bring such a terrible disaster on this place that the ears of those who hear will deafen
‭‭4 “이것은 그들이 나를 버리고 이 곳을 우상으로 더럽히며 그들과 그 조상들과 유다 왕들이 알지 못하던 다른 신들에게 분향하고 이 곳을 죄 없는 사람들의 피로 물들였으며”For they have forsaken me, and have defiled this place with idols, and have burned incense to other gods, whom they, and their fathers, and the kings of Judah, have not known, and have filled this place with the blood of innocent men
‭‭5 “또 그들이 산언덕에 바알의 단을 세우고 자기들의 아들을 제물로 불에 태워 바쳤기 때문이다. 이것은 내가 명령한 것도 아니며 내가 마음속으로 생각한 것도 아니다.”Also, because they built an altar to Baal on a mountain hill and burned their own sons as sacrifices. This is not what I commanded or what I had in mind
‭‭6 “그러므로 다시는 이 곳을 도벳이나 힌놈 골짜기라고 부르지 않고 ‘살육의 골짜기’ 라고 부를 날이 올 것이다.”Therefore, the day will come when this place will no longer be called the Valley of Tophet or Hinnom, but the ‘Valley of Slaughter.’
‭‭7 “내가 이 곳에서 유다와 예루살렘의 계획을 좌절시키고 그들을 원수의 칼날에 엎드러지게 하여 그 시체를 공중의 새와 들짐승의 밥이 되게 하겠다.”Here I will thwart the plans of Judah and Jerusalem, and I will cause them to fall by the sword of their enemies, and I will make their corpses food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the field
‭‭8 “내가 또 이 성을 황폐하게 하여 조소의 대상이 되게 할 것이니 지나가는 사람마다 그들이 당한 재앙을 보고 놀라며 비웃을 것이다.”I will also make this city desolate and an object of ridicule, and everyone who passes by will be amazed and laugh at the disaster that has befallen them
‭‭9 “적들이 그 성을 포위하고 있을 때 성 안에 갇혀 있는 사람들은 식량이 떨어져 먹을 것이 없으므로 자기 친구들과 자식들까지 잡아먹을 것이다.’”When the enemy is besieging the city, the people trapped inside the city will eat their friends and children because they have nothing to eat because they have run out of food
‭‭10 ““그러고서 너는 함께 가는 자들이 지켜 보는 가운데서 그 질그릇을 깨뜨리고”Then you shall break the earthenware vessel while those who go with you watch
‭‭11 “그들에게 이렇게 말하라: 이것은 전능하신 여호와의 말씀이오. ‘사람이 한번 깨뜨리면 다시 주워 붙일 수 없는 토기장이의 이 질그릇처럼 내가 이 백성과 이 성을 박살내겠다. 시체가 너무 많아 묻을 곳이 없으므로 이 곳 도벳 골짜기에 갖다 쌓을 것이다.”Say to them: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I will destroy this people and this city like a potter’s earthenware that once broken cannot be put back together. There are so many corpses that there is no place to bury them, so they will be piled up here in the Valley of Tophet
‭‭12 “나 여호와가 말한다. 내가 이 성과 이 백성을 도벳처럼 되게 하겠다.”I, the LORD, speak. I will make this city and this people like Topheth
‭‭13 “예루살렘의 집들과 유다 왕들의 궁전과 그리고 지붕 위에서 별에게 분향하고 다른 신들에게 술을 따라 부은 모든 집들이 도벳처럼 더러워질 것이다.’ ””The houses of Jerusalem, the palaces of the kings of Judah, and all the houses where people on their rooftops offer incense to the stars and pour out wine to other gods, will be defiled like Tophet
‭‭14 “그런 다음 나는 여호와께서 나를 보내 예언하게 하신 그 곳 도벳에서 돌아와 여호와의 성전 뜰에 서서 모든 백성들에게 말하였다.”Then I returned from Tophet, where the LORD had sent me to prophesy, and stood in the court of the LORD's temple and spoke to all the people
‭‭15 ““전능하신 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘보라, 내가 이 성과 모든 인근 부락에 이미 선언한 재앙을 내리겠다. 이것은 그들이 고집을 피우며 내 말을 들으려 하지 않았기 때문이다.’ ””This is what the Almighty Jehovah, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will bring upon this city and all its neighboring villages the calamity already declared.
