1 “그런 다음에 솔로몬왕은 여호와의 법궤를 다윗성 곧 시온에서 성전으로 옮 기려고 이스라엘의 모든 장로들과 각 지파의 지도자들과 족장들을 예루살렘으로 소집하였다.”(Then King Solomon summoned all the elders of Israel, the leaders of the tribes, and the chieftains to Jerusalem to move the ark of the covenant of the Lord from Zion, the City of David, to the Temple)
‭‭2 “그들이 솔로몬왕 앞에 모인 때는 7월의 초막절이었다.”(It was the Feast of Tabernacles in the seventh month when they gathered before King Solomon)
‭‭3-4 “이스라엘의 지도자들이 다 모이자 제사장들이 법궤를 메고 성전으로 올라갔다. 레위인들과 제사장들은 성막과 성막 안의 모든 기구도 성전으로 옮겼다.”(When all the leaders of Israel were assembled, the priests carried the ark and went up to the temple. The Levites and priests also moved the tabernacle and all its furnishings to the temple)
‭‭5 “그리고 솔로몬왕과 이스라엘 백성들은 법궤 앞에 모여 양과 소를 바쳐 제사를 드렸는데 그 수가 너무 많아 다 셀 수가 없었다.”(And King Solomon and the Israelites gathered in front of the ark and offered sacrifices of sheep and cattle, but there were so many that they could not be counted)
‭‭6 “그런 다음 제사장들은 여호와의 법궤를 성전 안으로 메어들여 지성소의 그룹 천사 날개 아래 두었다.”(The priests then carried the ark of the Lord into the temple and placed it under the wings of the cherub in the Most Holy Place)
‭‭7 “그 그룹 천사들의 날개가 법궤와 그 운반채 위를 덮었다.”(The wings of the cherubim covered the ark and its cart)
‭‭8 “그 운반채는 너무 길어 그 끝이 지성소 앞에서는 보였으나 성소 밖에서는 보이지 않았다. 이것은 오늘날까지도 그 곳에 그대로 있다.”(The pole was so long that its end was visible in front of the Holy of Holies, but not visible outside the Holy. It remains there to this day)
‭‭9 “그리고 법궤 안에는 이스라엘 민족이 이집트에서 나온 후에 여호와께서 그들과 계약을 맺었던 시내산에서 모세가 넣어 둔 두 돌판밖에 없었다.”(And inside the ark were only the two stone tablets placed by Moses at Mount Sinai, where the Lord had made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt)
‭‭10 “제사장들이 성소에서 나올 때 갑자기 성전 안이 찬란한 구름으로 가득 찼다.”(As the priests came out of the sanctuary, the temple was suddenly filled with a brilliant cloud)
‭‭11 “그래서 제사장들은 성전 안을 메운 그 영광의 광채 때문에 자기들의 직무를 계속 수행할 수가 없었다.”(So the priests could not continue their duties because of the radiance of the glory that filled the temple)
‭‭12 “그때 솔로몬이 말하였다. “여호와여, 주께서는 캄캄한 구름 가운데 계시겠다고 말씀하셨습니다.”(Then Solomon spoke. “Lord, you said you would be in a dark cloud)
‭‭13 “그러나 내가 주께서 영원히 계실 좋은 성전을 지었습니다.””(But I have built a good temple for you to dwell in forever.”)
‭‭14 “그러고서 솔로몬왕은 그 곳에 모인 이스라엘 군중을 향해 축복하고”(Then King Solomon blessed the crowd of Israel gathered there)
‭‭15 “이렇게 말하였다. “이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 찬양합니다. 여호와께서는 내 아버지에게 약속하신 것을 지키셨는데”(said this. “Praise the Lord, the God of Israel. The LORD kept his promise to my father)
‭‭16 “그 약속은 이런 것이었습니다. ‘나는 내 백성을 이집트에서 인도해 낸 날부터 지금까지 내가 경배받을 성전을 짓기 위해 이스라엘 땅에서 아무 성도 택하지 않았고 다만 내 백성을 다스릴 너 다윗을 택하였다.’”(The promise was this. ‘From the day I brought my people out of Egypt until now, I have not chosen any castle in the land of Israel to build a temple for my worship, but I have chosen you, David, to rule my people.’)
‭‭17 ““나의 아버지는 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와의 성전을 건축할 마음이 있었으나”(“My father had it in mind to build a temple for the Lord, the God of Israel,)
‭‭18 “여호와께서는 내 아버지에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘네가 나를 위해 성전을 건축하겠다는 뜻은 좋으나”(Jehovah said to my father: ‘It is good that you will build a temple for me,)
‭‭19 “너는 그것을 건축하지 못할 것이며 네가 낳을 네 아들이 내 성전을 건축할 것이다.’”(You will not build it, and your son you will bear will build my temple.’)
‭‭20 ““이제 여호와께서는 이 약속을 지키셨습니다. 나는 여호와께서 약속하신 대로 내 아버지를 이어 이스라엘의 왕이 되었고 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와의 성전을 건축하였으며”(“Now Jehovah has kept this promise. I succeeded my father as king over Israel, as the LORD had promised, and I built the temple of the LORD, the God of Israel)
‭‭21 “또 여호와께서 우리 조상들을 이집트에서 인도해 내실 때 그들과 맺은 계약의 돌판을 넣은 법궤를 위해 성전에 한 장소를 마련하였습니다.””(I also prepared a place in the temple for the ark in which the stone tablets of the covenant that Jehovah had made with our forefathers when he brought them out of Egypt were placed.”)
‭‭22 “그런 다음 솔로몬은 모든 군중들이 지켜 보는 가운데 제단 앞으로 가서 하늘을 향해 손을 들고”(Then Solomon, in front of the whole crowd watching, went before the altar and raised his hands toward the sky)
‭‭23 “이렇게 기도하였다. “이스라엘의 하나님 여호와여, 천하에 주와 같은 신이 없습니다. 주는 온전한 마음으로 주께 순종하고 주의 뜻대로 살려고 하는 모든 사람들에게 주의 언약을 지키시고 사랑을 베푸시는 신이십니다.”(I prayed like this. “Lord, God of Israel, there is no god like you. You are the God who keeps Your covenant and shows love to all those who obey You with a whole heart and try to live according to Your will)
‭‭24 “주께서 내 아버지에게 약속을 지키셔서 오늘날과 같이 주의 모든 말씀을 이행하셨습니다.”(You have kept your promise to my father, and have fulfilled all your words as of this day)
‭‭25 “이스라엘의 하나님 여호와여, 주께서는 내 아버지에게 이런 약속을 하셨습니다. ‘만일 네 자손들이 너를 본받아 내 뜻대로 살면 이스라엘의 왕위에 앉을 사람이 네 집안에서 끊어지지 않을 것이다.’”(Lord God of Israel, you have made this promise to my father. ‘If your descendants imitate you and follow my will, your family will not fail to have a man to sit on the throne of Israel.’)
‭‭26 “이스라엘의 하나님이시여, 주의 종 내 아버지에게 말씀하신 이 모든 약속이 이제 이루어지게 하소서.”(O God of Israel, let all these promises that you have spoken to your servant my father now be fulfilled)
‭‭27 ““하나님이시여, 그렇지만 주께서 정말 땅에 계실 수 있겠습니까? 가장 높은 하늘도 주를 모실 곳이 못 되는데 하물며 내가 건축한 이 성전에 어떻게 주를 모실 수 있겠습니까?”(“God, but could you really be on earth? Even the highest heaven is no place to attend the Lord, how much more can I attend the Lord in this temple I built?)
‭‭28 “나의 하나님 여호와여, 오늘 주 앞에서 부르짖는 이 종의 기도를 들으시고 나의 요구를 들어주소서.”(Lord my God, hear the prayer of this servant who cries before you today and grant my request)
‭‭29 “이제 이 성전을 밤낮으로 지켜 보소서. 이 곳은 주께서 경배를 받으시겠다고 말씀하신 곳입니다. 내가 이 성전을 향해 부르짖을 때 주는 내 기도를 들어주소서.”(Now watch over this temple day and night. This is where the Lord said He would be worshiped. Hear my prayers as I cry out to this temple)
‭‭30 “또 주의 백성이 이 곳을 향해 부르짖을 때에도 주는 하늘에서 들으시고 그들의 죄를 용서해 주소서.”(And when your people cry out to this place, hear from heaven and forgive their sins)
‭‭31 ““만일 어떤 사람이 남을 해친 죄로 고발되어 이 성전 제단 앞에 끌려와서 그렇게 하지 않았다고 맹세하면”(“If a man is accused of wrongdoing and brought before the altar in this temple, and swears that he did not do so,)
‭‭32 “주는 하늘에서 들으시고 옳고 그른 것을 판단하셔서 그가 행한 대로 갚아 주소서.”(Hear from heaven, judge right from wrong, and repay him for what he has done)
‭‭33 ““주의 백성이 주께 범죄하여 적군에게 패한 후 주께 돌아와 이 성전에서 주의 이름을 부르며 용서해 달라고 빌면”(“If your people sin against you and are defeated by the enemy, then return to you and call on your name in this temple and pray for forgiveness,)
‭‭34 “주는 하늘에서 들으시고 그들의 죄를 용서하시며 그 조상들에게 주신 땅으로 그들을 돌아오게 하소서.”(Hear from heaven, forgive their sins, and bring them back to the land you gave to their ancestors)
‭‭35 ““또 그들의 죄 때문에 하늘이 닫히고 비가 내리지 않아서 그들이 이 곳을 향해 기도하고 주의 이름을 부르며 회개하면”(“And when the heavens are closed and there is no rain because of their sin, and they pray toward this place and call upon the name of the Lord and repent,)
‭‭36 “주는 하늘에서 들으시고 주의 백성의 죄를 용서하셔서 그들에게 바른 길을 가르치시고 영구한 소유로 주신 이 땅에 비를 내려 주소서.”(Hear from heaven, forgive the sins of your people, teach them the right way, and send rain on the land you gave them for a permanent possession)
‭‭37 ““만일 이 땅에 흉년이 들거나 전염병이 발생하거나 병충해나 메뚜기떼로 농작물이 피해를 입거나 주의 백성이 적군의 공격을 받거나 질병이나 그 밖의 어떤 재앙이 있어서”(“If there is a famine in the land, or a pestilence breaks out, or pestilence or locusts destroy the crops, or your people are attacked by enemies, or there is disease or any other calamity,)
‭‭38 “주의 백성 가운데 누구든지 자기 죄를 깨닫고 이 성전을 향해 손을 들고 기도하면”(If any of your people realizes their sin and lifts up their hands toward this temple and prays,)
‭‭39 “주는 하늘에서 들으시고 그들의 죄를 용서하시며 그들을 도와주소서. 주께서만 사람의 마음을 아십니다. 각 사람이 행한 대로 갚아 주소서.”(Hear from heaven, forgive their sins, and help them. Only you know the human heart. Repay each person according to what he has done)
‭‭40 “그러면 주께서 우리 조상들에게 주신 땅에서 그들이 사는 날 동안 항상 주를 두려운 마음으로 섬길 것입니다.”(Then they will serve you fearfully all the days of their lives in the land you gave our ancestors)
‭‭41-42 ““또 먼 땅에 사는 외국인들이 주의 이름과 주께서 행하신 놀라운 일을 듣고 주께 경배하려고 이 성전에 와서 기도할 때에도”(“Also when foreigners who live in distant lands come and pray in this temple to worship you, because they have heard your name and the wonderful things you have done,)
‭‭43 “주는 하늘에서 들으시고 그들의 기도에 응답하소서. 그러면 세상의 모든 민족이 주의 백성과 마찬가지로 주의 이름을 알고 주를 두려워할 것이며 또 내가 지은 이 성전이 주께서 경배를 받으시는 곳임을 알게 될 것입니다.”(Hear from heaven and answer their prayers. Then all the peoples of the earth will know your name and fear you, just like your people, and they will know that this temple I have built is a place where you are worshiped)
‭‭44 ““주의 백성이 주의 명령을 받아 적군과 싸우러 나갈 때에 그들이 어느 곳에 있든지 주께서 택하신 이 성과 내가 주의 이름을 위해 건축한 이 성전을 향해 기도하면”(“When your people go out to fight against the enemy at your command, wherever they are, if they pray toward this city you have chosen and this temple that I have built for your name,)
‭‭45 “주는 하늘에서 들으시고 그들을 도와주소서.”(Hear from heaven and help them)
‭‭46 ““죄를 짓지 않는 사람은 하나도 없습니다. 만일 주의 백성이 범죄하므로 주께서 분노하셔서 그들을 외국 땅에 포로로 잡혀가게 하실 때”(“There is no one who does not sin. If your people sin, and in your anger you send them into captivity in a foreign land,)
‭‭47 “그들이 자기들의 잘못을 깨닫고 주를 향하여 ‘우리가 범죄하였습니다. 우리가 악을 행하였습니다’ 하고 부르짖으며”(When they realize their error, they turn to you and say, 'We have sinned. We have done evil.”)
‭‭48 “그들이 진심으로 주께 돌아와 회개하고 주께서 그들의 조상들에게 주신 이 땅과 주께서 택하신 이 성과 내가 주의 이름을 위해 건축한 이 성전을 향하여 기도하면”(If they turn to you with a sincere heart and repent and pray toward the land you gave to their ancestors and the city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your name,)
‭‭49 “주는 하늘에서 들으시고 그들에게 자비를 베푸소서.”(Hear from heaven and have mercy on them)
‭‭50 “그리고 그들의 모든 죄와 잘못을 용서하시고 그들을 포로로 잡아간 자들이 그들을 관대하게 대할 수 있게 하소서.”(And forgive them all their sins and faults, and let those who took them into captivity be lenient with them)
‭‭51 “그들은 주께서 용광로와 같은 이집트에서 직접 인도해 내신 주의 백성들입니다.”(They are the people of the Lord whom the Lord brought directly out of the furnace-like Egypt)
‭‭52 ““여호와여, 이 종과 주의 백성이 주께 부르짖는 기도를 들어주소서.”(“Lord, hear the prayer of your servant and of your people)
‭‭53 “주께서 우리 조상들을 이집트에서 인도해 내실 때 주의 종 모세를 통하여 말씀하신 대로 주께서는 온 세상에서 특별히 이스라엘 민족을 택하셔서 주의 백성으로 삼으셨습니다.””(Just as you spoke through your servant Moses when you brought our ancestors out of Egypt, you have specially chosen the Israelites out of the whole world to be your people.”)
‭‭54 “무릎을 꿇고 하늘을 향해 손을 높이 들고 기도하던 솔로몬은 이 모든 기도를 마치고 여호와의 제단 앞에서 일어나”(Solomon, who knelt down and raised his hands toward the sky, prayed. After all these prayers, he got up before the altar of the Lord)
‭‭55 “큰 소리로 그 곳에 모인 군중들에게 축복하며 이렇게 말하였다.”(He blessed the crowd with a loud voice and said:)
‭‭56 ““약속하신 대로 자기 백성에게 안식을 주신 여호와를 찬양합니다. 그가 자기 종 모세를 통하여 하신 말씀을 하나도 남김없이 다 이루셨습니다.”(“Praise be to the LORD, who has given rest to his people as he promised. He has fulfilled every word he had spoken through his servant Moses)
‭‭57 “우리 하나님 여호와께서 우리 조상들과 함께하셨던 것처럼 우리와 함께하시고 우리를 떠나거나 버리지 않으시며”(The LORD our God is with us as he was with our ancestors; he will not leave us or forsake us)
‭‭58 “순종하는 마음을 주셔서 우리가 그의 뜻대로 살고 우리 조상들에게 주신 모든 법과 명령을 지킬 수 있게 하시기를 원합니다.”(May he give us an obedient heart so that we may live according to his will and keep all the laws and commands he gave to our ancestors)
‭‭59 “또 우리 하나님 여호와께서 내가 드리는 이 모든 기도를 항상 기억하시고 나와 이 백성이 매일 필요로 하는 것을 채워 주셔서”(And the Lord our God always remembers all my prayers and provides for the daily needs of me and this people)
‭‭60 “세상의 모든 민족이 여호와 외에는 다른 하나님이 없는 것을 알게 하시기 원합니다.”(I want all peoples of the world to know that there is no other God but Jehovah)
‭‭61 “나는 여러분이 우리 하나님 여호와께 여러분의 마음을 온전히 바쳐서 오늘날처럼 언제나 그의 모든 법과 명령에 순종하기를 원합니다.””(I want you to give your hearts completely to Jehovah our God, to obey all his laws and commands always, just as today.”)
‭‭62-63 “그러고서 솔로몬왕과 그 곳에 모인 모든 백성들은 제사를 드려 성전 봉헌식을 거행하였는데 솔로몬왕은 화목제로 소 22,000마리와 양 120,000마리를 드렸다.”(Then King Solomon and all the people gathered there offered sacrifices and held the temple dedication ceremony. King Solomon offered 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep as peace offerings)
‭‭64 “그 날 솔로몬왕은 성전 앞뜰의 중앙을 거룩히 구별하고 거기서 불로 태워 바치는 번제와 곡식으로 드리는 소제와 그리고 화목제의 기름을 드렸다. 이것은 번제단이 너무 작아 거기서 이 모든 제물을 다 드릴 수가 없었기 때문이었다.”(On that day, King Solomon consecrated the middle of the courtyard in front of the temple, and there he offered burnt offerings, grain offerings, and the fat of fellowship offerings. This was because the altar of burnt offering was too small to offer all these offerings there)
‭‭65 “성전 봉헌식의 축제는 7일 동안의 초막절을 포함하여 모두 14일 동안 계속되었는데 북으로 하맛 고개에서부터 남으로 이집트 국경에 이르기까지 이스라엘 전역에서 수많은 사람들이 모여들었다.”(The festivities at the dedication of the temple continued for 14 days, including the 7-day Feast of Tabernacles, and thousands of people gathered from all over Israel, from the Pass of Hamath in the north to the borders of Egypt in the south)
‭‭66 “그 후에 솔로몬이 백성들을 돌려보내자 그들은 왕에게 복을 빌고 여호와께서 그의 종 다윗과 이스라엘 백성에게 베푸신 은혜를 생각하고 기뻐하며 집으로 돌아갔다.”(After this Solomon sent the people away, and they wished the king a blessing and went home rejoicing when they remembered the kindness the Lord had shown David his servant and the people of Israel)
