1 “이스르엘에 나봇이라는 사람이 아합의 궁전 부근에 포도원을 가지고 있었다.”A Jezreel man named Naboth had a vineyard near Ahab's palace
‭‭2 “그런데 어느 날 아합이 나봇에게 말하였다. “네 포도원을 나에게 넘겨라. 그것이 내 궁전 가까이에 있으니 내가 채소밭으로 사용하고 싶다. 그 대신 내가 그보다 더 좋은 포도원을 너에게 주겠다. 만일 네가 원한다면 그 값을 후하게 매겨 돈으로 줄 수도 있다.””But one day Ahab said to Naboth. “Give me your vineyard. Since it is close to my palace, I would like to use it as a vegetable garden. In exchange, I will give you a better vineyard. If you wish, I can give it to you in money, generously priced
‭‭3 “그러나 나봇은 아합에게 이렇게 대답하였다. “이 포도원은 내가 조상들에게서 대대로 물려받은 유산입니다. 여호와께서는 이런 유산을 다른 사람에게 팔거나 넘기지 말라고 명령하셨습니다.””But Naboth replied to Ahab: “This vineyard is an inheritance I have inherited from my ancestors. Jehovah has commanded that these inheritances not be sold or passed on to others
‭‭4 “아합은 이 말을 듣고 기분이 나빠 시무룩한 채 궁으로 돌아가서 자기 침대에 누워 얼굴을 돌리고 아무것도 먹지 않았다.”When Ahab heard this, he went back to the palace in a bad mood, and lay down on his bed, turned his face away, and ate nothing
‭‭5 “그러자 그의 아내 이세벨이 그에게 가서 물었다. “왕은 무슨 근심이 있어서 식사를 하지 않으십니까?””Then his wife Jezebel went to him and asked. “Why is the king not eating?
‭‭6 ““나봇에게 그의 포도원을 팔거나 내 포도원과 바꾸자고 했더니 그가 거절하였소.””I asked Naboth to sell his vineyard or trade it for mine, but he refused
‭‭7 ““이래서야 어떻게 이스라엘 왕으로 행세할 수 있겠습니까? 일어나 식사를 하시고 기운을 차리십시오. 내가 나봇의 포도원을 왕이 갖도록 하겠습니다.””How can he pretend to be the king of Israel? Wake up, eat, and be refreshed. I will give you the vineyard of Naboth
‭‭8 “그러고서 이세벨은 아합의 이름으로 여러 통의 편지를 써서 왕의 도장을 찍어 나봇의 성에 사는 지도자들과 귀족들에게 보냈는데”Then Jezebel wrote several letters in the name of Ahab, stamped with the king's seal, and sent them to the leaders and nobles who lived in Naboth's city
‭‭9 “그 편지 내용은 다음과 같았다. “여러분은 금식일을 선포하고 주민들을 한자리에 모아 나봇을 높은 곳에 앉히시오.”The contents of the letter were as follows. “Declare a day of fasting, gather the people together, and have Naboth sit on a high place
‭‭10 “그리고 건달 두 사람을 내세워 나봇이 하나님과 왕을 저주했다고 증언하게 한 다음 그를 성 밖으로 끌고 나가서 돌로 쳐죽이시오.””Then bring in two thugs to testify that Naboth cursed God and the king, then take him out of the city and stone him to death
‭‭11 “그래서 그 성의 지도자들과 귀족들은 이세벨이 지시한 대로”So the leaders and nobles of the city followed Jezebel's instructions
‭‭12 “금식일을 선포하고 주민들을 한자리에 모아 나봇을 높은 곳에 앉혔다.”He declared a fast, gathered the people together, and seated Naboth on a high place
‭‭13 “그러고서 건달 두 사람을 내세워 그가 하나님과 왕을 저주했다고 증언하게 하고 그를 성 밖으로 끌고 나가서 돌로 쳐죽인 다음”Then they set up two thugs to testify that he had cursed God and the king, and they dragged him out of the city and stoned him to death
‭‭14 “이세벨에게 나봇이 죽은 것을 알렸다.”Jezebel informed of Naboth's death
‭‭15 “이세벨은 나봇이 죽었다는 말을 듣고 아합에게 가서 말하였다. “나봇은 죽었습니다. 이제 일어나셔서 그가 왕에게 팔지 않겠다던 포도원을 소유하십시오.””When Jezebel heard that Naboth was dead, she went and told Ahab. “Naboth is dead. Get up now and take possession of the vineyard he refused to sell to the king
‭‭16 “그래서 아합이 그 포도원을 차지하려고 그리로 내려갔다.”So Ahab went down to take possession of the vineyard
‭‭17 “그때 여호와께서 예언자 엘리야에게 말씀하셨다.”Then Jehovah spoke to the prophet Elijah
‭‭18 ““너는 사마리아로 가서 아합왕을 만나라. 그가 나봇의 포도원을 차지하려고 그리로 내려갔다.”Go to Samaria and meet King Ahab. He went down to take possession of Naboth's vineyard
‭‭19 “너는 그에게 나 여호와가 이렇게 말한다고 일러 주어라. ‘네가 나봇을 죽이고 그의 포도원까지 빼앗으려고 하느냐? 개들이 나봇의 피를 핥은 곳에서 네 피도 핥을 것이다.’ ””You must tell him that I, the Lord, say this. ‘Are you trying to kill Naboth and take his vineyard? Where the dogs licked Naboth's blood, they will lick your blood too
‭‭20 “아합이 엘리야를 보고 “내 원수야, 네가 나를 찾았느냐?” 하자 엘리야가 말하였다. “그렇습니다. 내가 당신을 찾았습니다. 당신은 여호와 앞에서 악을 행하는 일에만 전력을 쏟았습니다.”When Ahab saw Elijah, he said, “My enemy, have you sought me?” So Elijah said. "That's right. i found you You devoted all your energy to doing what was bad before Jehovah
‭‭21 “그래서 여호와께서 당신에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘내가 너에게 재앙을 내려 네 집안의 종이든 자유인이든 남자는 모조리 죽여”So the Lord said to you: ‘I will bring disaster on you and kill every male in your household, both slave and free
‭‭22 “느밧의 아들 여로보암의 집과 아히야의 아들 바아사의 집처럼 되게 할 것이다. 이것은 네가 나를 노하게 하고 이스라엘 백성을 죄의 길로 인도하였기 때문이다.’”I will make it like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and the house of Baasha son of Ahijah. Because you angered me and led the people of Israel into sin
‭‭23 ““또 여호와께서는 이스르엘의 개들이 당신의 아내 이세벨의 시체를 뜯어 먹을 것이라고 말씀하셨으며”And the Lord said that the dogs of Jezreel would eat the body of your wife Jezebel
‭‭24 “당신의 집안 사람 중에 성에서 죽는 자는 개들이 먹고 들에서 죽는 자는 공중의 새들이 먹을 것이라고 말씀하셨습니다.””Whoever dies in the city will be eaten by the dogs, and whoever dies in the field will be eaten by the birds of the air
‭‭25 “일찍이 아합처럼 여호와 앞에서 악을 행하는 데만 정신이 팔린 사람도 없었다. 이것은 그의 아내 이세벨이 그를 충동하여 온갖 악을 행하도록 하였기 때문이었다.”No one was ever so preoccupied with doing evil before Jehovah as Ahab. This was because his wife Jezebel had spurred him on to do all sorts of evil
‭‭26 “아합은 이스라엘 백성이 가나안 땅으로 들어갈 때 여호와께서 쫓아내신 아모리 사람들이 행한 것처럼 우상을 섬기고 온갖 더러운 짓을 하였다.”Ahab worshiped idols and did all sorts of unclean things, just as the Amorites had done, whom the Lord had driven out when the Israelites entered the land of Canaan
‭‭27 “그는 엘리야의 말을 듣자 자기 옷을 찢고 몸에 삼베를 두르고 금식하며 삼베를 걸친 그대로 잠을 자고 다닐 때에도 침울한 표정으로 조심스럽게 다녔다.”When he heard Elijah's words, he tore his clothes and wrapped himself in burlap, fasted, and slept in the burlap
‭‭28-29 “그러자 여호와께서 엘리야에게 다시 말씀하셨다. “아합이 내 앞에서 겸손해진 것을 너는 보았느냐? 그가 내 앞에서 겸손한 태도를 보였으므로 내가 그의 생전에 재앙을 내리지 않고 그의 아들 시대에 가서 그 집안에 재앙을 내리겠다.””Then the Lord spoke to Elijah again. “Did you see how Ahab humbled himself before me? Because of his humble attitude before me, I will not bring disaster on him during his lifetime, but will bring disaster on his family in the days of his sons
