1 “그러자 욥이 이렇게 대답하였다.”Then Job answered:
‭‭2 ““이런 말은 내가 전에 다 들었다. 너희는 모두 나를 위로하러 온 것이 아니라 오히려 나를 괴롭히려고 온 자들이구나!”I've heard this all before. You all did not come to comfort me, but rather to torment me!
‭‭3 “헛된 말을 끝없이 할 작정이냐? 무엇 때문에 그런 말을 하느냐?”Are you planning on talking endlessly about nonsense? Why do you say such things?
‭‭4 “나도 너희처럼 말할 수 있다. 만일 너희가 내 입장에 있다고 하면 나도 얼마든지 말을 지어내어 너희를 괴롭히고 너희를 향해 머리를 흔들 수 있을 것이다.”I can say the same as you. If you were in my position, I would make up any number of words to harass you and shake my head at you
‭‭5 “하지만 난 그렇게 하지 않겠다. 나 같으면 너희에게 도움이 되는 말을 하여 너희를 위로하고 너희 슬픔을 덜어 주었을 것이다.”But I won't do that. If it were me, I would speak helpful words to you, comfort you and ease your sorrow
‭‭6 “내가 자신을 변명해도 내 슬픔이 그대로 있는데 내가 입을 다문다고 해서 어찌 마음이 편하겠느냐?”Even if I excuse myself, my sadness is still there. How can I feel at ease if I keep quiet?
‭‭7 ““하나님이시여, 주께서 나를 완전히 지치게 하시고 나의 집안을 황폐하게 하셨습니다.”O God, you have completely exhausted me and devastated my family
‭‭8 “주께서 나를 시들게 하여 뼈와 가죽만 남게 하셨으므로 이것이 내 죄를 증거하고 있습니다.”You withered me until I was left with nothing but bones and skin, and this testifies to my sin
‭‭9 ““하나님은 분노로 나를 쳐서 내 살을 찢고 나를 향해 이를 갈며 증오의 눈으로 나를 보시고”God struck me in anger, tearing my flesh and gnashing his teeth at me, looking at me with hatred
‭‭10 “사람들은 입을 벌려 나를 조롱하며 조소로 내 뺨을 치고 한패가 되어 나를 대적하는구나.”People open their mouths to mock me, slap me in the face with ridicule, and join together to oppose me.
‭‭11 “하나님은 나를 경건치 않은 자들에게 넘겨 주시고 악인의 손에 던져 넣으셨다.”God has handed me over to the ungodly and thrown me into the hand of the wicked
‭‭12 “내가 편안하게 살고 있을 때 그가 나를 꺾고 내 목을 잡아 던져 부수뜨리시며 나를 그의 표적으로 삼으시고”When I was living comfortably, he broke me, took me by the neck, threw me to pieces, and made me his target
‭‭13 “사방에서 활을 쏘아 사정없이 내 허리를 뚫어 땅에 창자가 쏟아지게 하는구나.”They shoot arrows from all directions and pierce my waist mercilessly, causing my intestines to spill out onto the ground
‭‭14 “그가 계속해서 나를 치고 용사처럼 내게 달려드시니”He continues to strike me and rushes at me like a mighty man
‭‭15 “내가 이렇게 삼베 옷을 입고 티끌 가운데 앉아 슬퍼하는 신세가 되고 말았다.”I ended up like this, dressed in linen and sitting in the dust, feeling sad
‭‭16 “내 얼굴은 울어서 붉어 있고 내 눈 언저리에는 죽음의 그늘이 맴돌고 있구나.”My face is red from crying, and the shadow of death hovers around my eyes
‭‭17 “그러나 나는 내 손으로 포학한 일을 한 적이 없으며 나의 기도는 순수하다.”But I have not committed violence with my hands, and my prayers are pure
‭‭18 ““땅이여, 내 피를 숨기지 말고 그 피가 나를 위해 계속 부르짖게 해 다오.”Earth, do not hide my blood; let it continue to cry for me
‭‭19 “지금 나의 증인이 하늘에 계시고 나의 대변자가 높은 곳에 계신다.”Now my witness is in heaven and my advocate is on high
‭‭20 “내 친구들이 나를 조롱하니 내 눈이 하나님께 눈물을 쏟는구나.”My friends mock me; my eyes shed tears for God
‭‭21 “사람이 자기 친구를 위해서 변호하듯 누가 나를 위해 하나님께 변호해 주었으면 좋으련만!”I wish that someone would plead for me to God as a man pleads for his friend!
‭‭22 “몇 년이 지나면 나도 돌아오지 못할 길로 갈 것이다.””“After a few years, I will go down a path from which I will never return.”
