1 “욥은 다시 말을 이었다.”Job spoke again
‭‭2 ““하나님이 나를 돌보시던 옛날의 생활로 내가 되돌아갈 수 있으면 얼마나 좋을까?”Wouldn't it be nice if I could go back to my old life where God cared for me?
‭‭3 “그 때는 하나님이 항상 나와 함께 계셨고 내가 흑암으로 걸어갈 때 나에게 빛을 주셨다.”At that time, God was always with me and gave me light when I walked in darkness
‭‭4 “내 인생의 전성기에는 하나님의 따뜻한 손길이 우리 가정을 지켜 주셨고”In the prime of my life, God's warm hand protected our family
‭‭5 “전능하신 하나님이 나와 함께하셨으며 나는 내 자녀들에게 둘러싸여 있었고”Almighty God was with me and I was surrounded by my children
‭‭6 “나의 가축은 젖을 많이 내며 바위산에 있는 감람나무까지 잘 자라 기름을 물 쓰듯이 하였다.”My livestock yielded a lot of milk, and even the olive trees on the rocky mountains grew well and made oil like water
‭‭7 ““그 때는 내가 성문 광장으로 가서 성의 어른들과 자리를 같이하기도 하였다.”At that time, I went to the castle gate square and sat down with the adults of the castle
‭‭8 “젊은 사람들이 나를 보면 길을 비켜 서고 내가 가면 노인들이 일어섰으며”When the young people see me, they stand aside; when I go, the old people stand up
‭‭9 “백성의 지도자들도 하던 말을 멈추고 손으로 입을 가리고”The leaders of the people also stopped what they were saying and covered their mouths with their hands
‭‭10 “귀족들도 조용히 말문을 닫았으며”The nobles also remained silent and
‭‭11 “나에 관해서 듣거나 나를 보는 자들이 다 나를 칭찬하였다.”Everyone who heard about me or saw me praised me
‭‭12 “가난한 자들이 부르짖으면 내가 그들을 도와주고 의지할 데 없는 고아들을 볼 때도 나는 그들을 도와주었다.”When the poor cry out, I help them; when I see orphans helpless, I help them
‭‭13 “또 거의 망하게 된 자들도 나를 위해 복을 빌어 주었으며 나 때문에 과부들도 기뻐서 노래를 불렀다.”And those who were almost ruined prayed for me, and the widows sang for joy because of me
‭‭14 “나는 의로움을 내 옷으로 삼고 언제나 바르고 정직하게 살았으며”I have made righteousness my garment, and I have always lived uprightly and honestly
‭‭15 “소경의 눈이 되고 절뚝발이의 발이 되었으며”Become the eyes of the blind and the feet of the lame
‭‭16 “가난한 자에게는 아버지와 같았고 낯선 사람의 문제도 처리해 주었다.”He was like a father to the poor and took care of strangers' problems
‭‭17 “또 나는 악하고 잔인한 사람들의 세력을 꺾고 그들의 희생자들을 구출해 내었다.”And I broke the power of evil and cruel people and rescued their victims
‭‭18 ““나는 가끔 혼자 이런 생각을 해본다. ‘나는 오래오래 잘 살다가 편안하게 죽을 것이며”I sometimes think about this to myself. ‘I will live a long and prosperous life and die in peace
‭‭19 “뿌리가 물에 뻗어 있고 그 가지는 밤새도록 이슬에 젖어 있는 나무와 같을 것이며”He will be like a tree whose roots stretch out into the water and whose branches are wet with dew all night long
‭‭20 “내 영광은 날로 새로워지고 내 힘은 점점 더 왕성해질 것이다.’”My glory will be renewed day by day and my strength will become more and more powerful
‭‭21 ““사람들은 내 말을 듣고 내 충고를 소중히 여기며 내가 말할 때까지 조용히 기다렸다가”People listen to me, value my advice, and wait quietly for me to speak
‭‭22 “내가 말한 후에는 더 이상 말을 하지 않았다. 이것은 그들이 내 충고를 만족스럽게 여겼기 때문이었다.”After I spoke, I said no more. This was because they found my advice satisfactory
‭‭23 “그들은 가뭄 때 비를 기다리는 심정으로 내가 말하기를 기다렸다.”They waited for me to speak, like waiting for rain during a drought
‭‭24 “그들이 낙심할 때 내가 웃어 주면 나의 밝은 표정을 보고 그들은 용기를 얻었다.”When I smiled at them when they were discouraged, seeing my bright expression gave them courage
‭‭25 “나는 그들의 길을 결정해 주고 그들의 지도자로 앉아 그들에게 왕처럼 군림했으며 그들이 어려움을 당할 때마다 초상당한 자를 위로하듯이 내가 그들을 위로해 주었다.””I decided their path, sat as their leader, reigned over them like a king, and whenever they were in trouble, I comforted them as one would comfort a wounded person
