1 ““은은 채굴하는 광산이 있고 금은 제련하는 제련소가 있으며”There is a mine that mines silver and a smelter that smelts gold
‭‭2 “철은 땅에서 파내고 구리는 광석을 녹여서 얻는다.”Iron is obtained by digging it out of the ground, and copper is obtained by melting ore
‭‭3 “사람들은 광맥을 찾기 위해 땅을 깊이 파고 아주 어두운 곳을 조사한다.”People dig deep into the ground and search very dark places to find veins of minerals
‭‭4 “그들은 사람이 사는 곳에서 멀리 떨어져 인적이 끊어진 곳에 갱도를 깊이 파고 갱 속에서 밧줄로 몸을 묶어 흔들거리면서 외롭게 일하고 있다.”They dig deep tunnels in deserted places, far away from people's homes, and work alone, tying themselves with ropes and shaking in the mines
‭‭5 “지면에서는 먹을 것이 나오지만 지하에서는 땅이 불로 뒤집힌다.”Food comes from the surface, but underground the earth is turned over by fire
‭‭6 “광석에는 청옥도 있고 사금도 있다.”Ore includes sapphire and placer gold
‭‭7 “그런 보화를 캐내는 길은 솔개도 모르고 매의 눈도 그것을 보지 못하며”Even the kite does not know the way to dig up such a treasure, and the eye of the hawk cannot see it
‭‭8 “사자나 다른 사나운 짐승도 밟아 보지 못한다.”Not even a lion or any other fierce animal can step on it
‭‭9 “사람들은 아주 단단한 바위를 쪼개고 산을 파서 그 뿌리까지 드러내며”People split very hard rocks and dig up mountains to reveal their roots
‭‭10 “바위를 뚫어 굴을 내고 보석을 찾아내며”Drilling holes in the rock and finding gems
‭‭11 “강의 자원을 찾아서 감추인 것을 드러낸다.”Discover the teaching resources and reveal what is hidden
‭‭12 ““그러나 지혜는 어디서 찾을 수 있으며 깊은 깨달음은 어디서 얻을 수 있는가?”But where can wisdom be found and where can deep understanding be obtained?
‭‭13 “이 세상에서는 참 지혜를 찾을 수 없으므로 사람들이 그 가치를 모른다.”True wisdom cannot be found in this world, so people do not know its value
‭‭14 “대양이 ‘그것은 내 속에 없다’ 고 말하며 바다도 ‘그것은 나에게 없다’ 고 말한다.”The ocean says, ‘It is not in me,’ and the sea says, ‘It is not in me.’
‭‭15 “그것은 금이나 은으로 살 수 없고”It cannot be bought with gold or silver
‭‭16 “청옥과 마노와 같은 값진 보석으로도 그 값을 치를 수가 없다.”Even precious gems such as sapphire and agate cannot pay for it
‭‭17 “지혜는 황금이나 유리와 비교가 안 되고 순금으로 장식한 보석으로도 살 수 없으며”Wisdom cannot be compared with gold or glass, nor can it be purchased with jewels made of pure gold
‭‭18 “산호나 수정이나 홍옥도 그 가치에 미치지 못하며”Coral, crystal, and ruby ​​are not worth it;
‭‭19 “에티오피아의 황옥이나 순금도 지혜의 값을 따를 수 없다.”Even Ethiopian topaz or pure gold cannot match the price of wisdom
‭‭20 “그렇다면 그 지혜를 어디서 얻을 수 있는가?”So where can you get that wisdom?
‭‭21 “그것은 모든 생물의 눈에 숨겨져 있고 공중의 새도 그것을 보지 못하며”It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing; not even the birds of the air see it
‭‭22 “멸망과 사망까지도 그것을 소문으로만 들었을 뿐이라고 말한다.”Even destruction and death are said to have only been heard through rumors
‭‭23 ““하나님만이 지혜가 있는 곳을 아신다.”Only God knows where wisdom is
‭‭24 “이것은 그가 땅 끝까지 살피시며 천하에 있는 모든 것을 보고 계시기 때문이다.”For he searches to the ends of the earth and sees everything that is under the heavens
‭‭25 “하나님이 바람의 힘을 조절하시고 물의 분량을 측정하시며”God regulates the force of the wind and measures the volume of the water
‭‭26 “비의 법칙과 번개가 다니는 길을 정하셨을 때에”When he determined the law of rain and the path of lightning,
‭‭27 “지혜를 보시고 그 가치를 시험하여 인정하셨다.”He saw wisdom, tested its value, and recognized it
‭‭28 “그러고서 하나님은 모든 인류에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. ‘나 여호와를 두려운 마음으로 섬기는 것이 참 지혜요 악에서 떠나는 것이 진정한 깨달음이다.’ ””Then God said this to all mankind: ‘To serve the Lord with fear is true wisdom, and to turn away from evil is true understanding.’
