1 “이것은 다마스커스에 대한 여호와의 말씀이다. “앞으로 다마스커스는 도시가 되지 못하고 폐허의 돌무더기가 될 것이다.”This is the word of the Lord against Damascus. “In the future, Damascus will no longer be a city and will become a heap of ruins
‭‭2 “아로엘의 성들이 버림을 당하여 양떼나 소떼가 풀을 뜯어먹고 누워도 그들을 놀라게 할 자가 없을 것이며”The cities of Aroer will be abandoned, their flocks and herds will lie down to eat grass, and no one will frighten them
‭‭3 “에브라임에서 요새화된 성들이 사라지고 다마스커스에서 왕권이 무너지며 시리아의 남은 자들이 멸망하여 이스라엘의 운명처럼 될 것이다. 이것은 전능한 나 여호와의 말이다.””The fortified cities in Ephraim will be destroyed, the kingship in Damascus will be overthrown, and the remnant of Syria will be destroyed, just like Israel. This is what I, the Lord Almighty, say
‭‭4 “여호와께서 다시 말씀하셨다. “이스라엘의 영광이 시들고 그 부가 가난으로 바뀔 날이 올 것이다.”The LORD spoke again. “The day will come when the glory of Israel will fade and her wealth will turn to poverty
‭‭5 “그때 이스라엘은 곡식을 베어 낸 르바임 골짜기의 황량한 밭과 같을 것이다.”At that time Israel will be like the desolate fields of the Rephaim Valley where the grain has been cut down
‭‭6 “그러나 감람나무를 흔들어 떨어도 가장 높은 가지에 서너 개의 열매가 남아 있듯이 황량한 그 밭에도 약간의 이삭은 남아 있을 것이다. 이것은 이스라엘의 하나님 나 여호와의 말이다.””However, just as three or four fruits remain on the highest branches even if an olive tree is shaken down, some ears will remain in the barren field. This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says
‭‭7 “그때 사람들은 자기들의 창조자인 이스라엘의 거룩하신 하나님을 바라볼 것이며”Then people will look to their Creator, the Holy God of Israel
‭‭8 “자기들의 손으로 만든 우상의 제단을 쳐다보지 않고 공작물에 불과한 아세라 여신상이나 태양상을 바라보지 않을 것이다.”They will not look at the altars of idols they have made with their own hands, nor will they look at the statues of Asherah or the sun, which are nothing more than works
‭‭9 “그 날에 튼튼한 성들이 버림을 당해 옛날 히위 사람들과 아모리 사람들이 이스라엘 사람들 앞에서 버리고 간 성처럼 폐허가 될 것이다.”In that day the strong cities will be abandoned and left in ruins, like the cities that the Hivites and Amorites abandoned before the Israelites
‭‭10 “이스라엘아, 네가 너를 구원하고 보호하는 튼튼한 반석 같은 하나님을 잊어버렸다. 그러므로 네가 좋아하는 나무를 이식하고 이방의 포도나무를 심어”O Israel, you have forgotten God, the strong rock that saves and protects you. Therefore, transplant the trees you like and plant foreign vines
‭‭11 “바로 그 날 아침에 그것이 싹이 나서 꽃이 피고 잘 자랄지라도 네가 그 열매를 거두지 못할 것이며 너에게는 슬픔과 고통만 있을 것이다.”Even if it sprouts and blooms and grows well that very morning, you will not reap any fruit from it; you will only have sorrow and pain
‭‭12 “소란을 피우며 성난 파도처럼 밀려오는 많은 민족을 보라.”Look at the many nations making noise and rolling in like angry waves
‭‭13 “수많은 적군이 물밀듯이 밀어닥치나 하나님이 그들을 꾸짖으시니 산언덕에 있는 겨가 바람에 날리고 회오리바람에 티끌이 떠다니듯 그들이 멀리 달아나고 흩어지는구나.”The enemy's army surges like a flood, but God rebukes them, and they run away and scatter like chaff on a mountain hill blown by the wind and dust floating in a whirlwind
‭‭14 “그들이 저녁에는 가공할 만한 존재였으나 아침이 되기도 전에 사라져 버렸으니 이것이 하나님의 백성을 약탈하는 자들의 운명이다.”They were formidable in the evening, but before morning they were gone; this is the fate of those who plunder God's people
