1 “그래서 욥이 이렇게 대답하였다.”So Job answered this way:
‭‭2 ““너희가 언제까지 나를 괴롭히고 말로 나를 꺾을 작정이냐?”How long are you going to torment me and break me down with your words?
‭‭3 “너희가 열 번이나 나를 책망하며 학대하고도 부끄러워하지 않는구나.”You have rebuked me and abused me ten times and you are not ashamed
‭‭4 “나에게 정말 잘못이 있다고 해도 그것은 나 혼자만의 문제이다.”Even if I am truly at fault, it is my problem alone
‭‭5 “너희는 나보다 낫다고 생각하며 내가 당하는 어려움이 내 죄의 대가라고 여기고 싶겠지만”You may want to think that you are better than me and that my difficulties are the price of my sins
‭‭6 “너희가 먼저 알아야 할 것은 나를 이렇게 하신 분이 하나님이시며 그가 나를 잡기 위해서 덫을 놓았다는 사실이다.”The first thing you need to know is that it is God who did this to me, and that he set a trap to catch me
‭‭7 ““내가 학대를 받고 있다고 부르짖어도 아무런 응답이 없고 도움을 요청하여도 해결해 주는 자가 없구나.”Even when I cry out that I am being abused, there is no response, and when I ask for help, there is no one to solve the problem
‭‭8 “하나님이 내 길을 막아 나를 지나가지 못하게 하시며 그 길을 가려 어둡게 하시고”God blocks my way so that I cannot pass by; he blocks my way and makes it dark
‭‭9 “또 나의 영광을 빼앗아 가셨으며 내 머리의 면류관을 벗기셨다.”He has taken away my glory and taken the crown from my head
‭‭10 “그가 사방에서 나를 치시므로 내가 죽게 되었다. 그가 나무 뽑듯이 내 희망을 뿌리째 뽑아 버리시고”He struck me from every direction, until I died. He uproots my hope like a tree
‭‭11 “나를 향해 노하시며 나를 원수같이 여기시고”He is angry with me and treats me like an enemy
‭‭12 “그의 군대를 보내 내 집을 포위하는구나.”He sends his army to surround my house
‭‭13 ““하나님이 내 형제들을 내게서 멀리 떠나게 하시므로 나를 아는 자들에게 내가 낯선 사람이 되고 말았다.”God has taken my brothers far away from me, and I have become a stranger to those who know me
‭‭14 “내 친척들도 나를 저버리고 내 친구들도 모두 나를 잊었다.”My relatives have abandoned me and all my friends have forgotten me
‭‭15 “내 집에 묵고 있는 손님들과 심지어 내 종들까지도 나를 모르는 척하므로 내가 그들에게 외국 사람같이 되고 말았다.”The guests staying in my house and even my servants pretend not to know me, so that I have become like a foreigner to them
‭‭16 “내 종을 불러도 대답하지 않으니 내가 사정하는 신세가 되었다.”I called my servant, but he did not answer, so I was left to blame
‭‭17 “내 아내도 내 입에서 나는 냄새를 맡지 못하고 내 형제들도 내 곁에 가까이 오기를 싫어하며”My wife cannot smell my breath, and my brothers do not want to come near me
‭‭18 “어린 아이들까지 나를 보면 업신여기고 조롱하는구나.”Even young children look down on me and mock me
‭‭19 “나의 제일 가까운 친구들도 나를 싫어하며 내가 사랑하던 사람들도 돌이켜 나의 대적이 되었다.”My closest friends hate me, and those I loved have turned into my enemies
‭‭20 “나는 뼈와 가죽만 남아 겨우 목숨만 붙어 있는 신세가 되었구나.”I am left with only bones and skin left, barely alive
‭‭21 “내 친구들이여, 나를 좀 불쌍히 여겨다오. 하나님의 손이 나를 치셨다.”My friends, have pity on me. God's hand is against me
‭‭22 “너희가 어째서 하나님처럼 나를 핍박하느냐? 나를 이처럼 괴롭히고도 아직 마음에 만족함이 없느냐?”Why do you persecute me like God? Even though you have tormented me like this, are you still not satisfied?
‭‭23 ““누가 내 말을 기억하였다가 책에 기록해 두었으면!”If only someone would remember my words and write them down in a book!
‭‭24 “누가 철필로 내 말을 돌에 새겨 그것이 영원히 보존되도록 했으면 좋겠구나!”I wish someone would take an iron pen and engrave my words in stone so that they would be preserved forever!
‭‭25 “내가 알기에는 나를 구하실 분이 살아 계시므로 그가 결국 땅 위에 서실 것이다.”For I know that there is one who will save me, and he will eventually stand on the earth
‭‭26 “내 육체의 가죽이 썩은 후에는 내가 육체 밖에서 하나님을 볼 것이며”After the skin of my body has decayed, I will see God outside of my body
‭‭27 “그 때는 내 눈이 그를 보아도 낯선 사람처럼 하지 않을 것이니 내 마음이 한없이 설레는구나!”At that time, when my eyes see him, I will not act like a stranger, and my heart will be filled with excitement!
‭‭28 ““너희는 ‘우리가 어떻게 그를 괴롭혀 줄까?’ 하고 나를 칠 구실을 찾겠지만”You will look for a reason to attack me, saying, ‘How shall we afflict him?’
‭‭29 “너희는 칼을 두려워해야 한다. 분노는 칼의 형벌을 초래하므로 너희가 심판이 있는 것을 알게 될 것이다.””You must fear the sword. You will know the judgment, for wrath brings the punishment of the sword
