1 “너는 악인들을 부러워하지 말고 그들과 함께 있는 것을 원하지도 말아라.”Do not envy the wicked and do not want to be with them
‭‭2 “악인들은 남을 해칠 일만 생각하고 말썽을 일으킬 말만 한다.”Wicked people only think about harming others and say only things that will cause trouble
‭‭3 “집은 지혜를 기초로 지어지고 총명으로 견고하게 되며”A house is built on wisdom and strengthened by understanding
‭‭4 “그 방들은 지식을 통해서 여러 가지 진귀하고 아름다운 보물이 채워진다.”Those rooms are filled with various rare and beautiful treasures through knowledge
‭‭5 “지혜 있는 자가 힘 센 자보다 강하고 지식 있는 자가 무력을 쓰는 자보다 강하다.”The wise are stronger than the strong, and the knowledgeable are stronger than those who use force
‭‭6 “너는 전쟁하기에 앞서 전략을 잘 세워라. 승리는 전술적인 조언을 많이 받는 데 있다.”Make a good strategy before going to war. Victory comes from receiving a lot of tactical advice
‭‭7 “지혜는 미련한 자들이 도달하기에는 너무 높은 수준에 있으므로 중요한 문제가 토론될 때 그들은 아무것도 할 말이 없다.”Wisdom is too high for fools to attain, so that when important matters are discussed they have nothing to say
‭‭8 “악한 일을 계획하는 사람을 흔히 음모가라고 부른다”A person who plans evil things is often called a conspirator
‭‭9 “미련한 자의 책략은 죄이며 거만한 자는 사람들의 미움을 받는다.”The tricks of a fool are sin, and a haughty man is hated by men
‭‭10 “네가 어려움을 당할 때 낙심하면 너는 정말 약한 자이다.”If you get discouraged when you face difficulties, you are truly weak
‭‭11 “너는 억울하게 죽게 된 사람을 구하며 살인자의 손에 끌려가는 사람을 구출하는 데 주저하지 말아라.”Do not hesitate to save someone who has been wrongfully killed and to rescue someone who is being dragged away by a murderer
‭‭12 “너는 알지 못했다는 이유로 네 책임을 회피하지 말아라. 네 마음을 살피시며 너를 지켜 보고 계시는 분이 어찌 그것을 모르겠느냐? 그는 사람이 행한 대로 갚아 주실 것이다.”Do not shirk your responsibility because you did not know. How can he who searches your heart and watches over you not know this? He will repay a person according to what he has done
‭‭13 “내 아들아, 꿀을 먹어라. 이것이 좋다. 특별히 송이꿀은 더 달다.”My son, eat honey. This is good. In particular, pine honey is sweeter
‭‭14 “이와 같이 지혜도 달콤한 것이다. 그러므로 지혜를 얻어라. 분명히 너에게 밝은 미래가 있을 것이며 너의 희망이 끊어지지 않을 것이다.”Likewise, wisdom is also sweet. Therefore, gain wisdom. Surely you will have a bright future and your hope will not be lost
‭‭15 “악한 자여, 의로운 사람의 거처를 엿보지 말며 그 집을 약탈하지 말아라.”O wicked man, do not spy on the dwelling of a righteous man, nor plunder his house
‭‭16 “의로운 사람은 일곱 번 넘어져도 다시 일어나지만 악인은 단 한 번의 재앙으로도 쓰러지고 만다.”Even if a righteous person falls seven times, he gets up again, but a wicked person falls down after just one disaster
‭‭17 “네 원수가 망하는 것을 보고 기뻐하거나 즐거워하지 말아라.”Do not rejoice or be glad when you see your enemy destroyed
‭‭18 “여호와께서 그것을 보시고 기뻐하지 않으시며 분노를 그에게서 돌이키실지도 모른다.”Jehovah may see it and be displeased and turn his anger away from him
‭‭19 “너는 악한 사람들 때문에 안달하거나 그들을 부러워하지 말아라.”Do not fret over evil people or envy them
‭‭20 “악인들에게는 밝은 미래가 없을 것이며 희망의 등불도 꺼질 것이다.”There will be no bright future for the wicked and the lamp of hope will go out
‭‭21 “내 아들아, 여호와와 왕을 두려워하고 반역자들과 사귀지 말아라.”My son, fear the LORD and the king, and do not associate with traitors
‭‭22 “그들은 순식간에 패망할 것이다. 그들에게 내릴 재앙을 누가 알겠는가?”They will be defeated in an instant. Who knows the disaster that will come upon them?
‭‭23 “이것도 지혜로운 사람의 말이다: 재판할 때 사람 봐 가면서 하는 것은 좋지 못하다.”This is also the saying of a wise man: It is not good to judge people while judging
‭‭24 “죄 지은 사람에게 무죄를 선언하는 자는 온 세상 사람들에게 저주를 받고 미움을 살 것이지만”Anyone who declares a guilty person innocent will be cursed and hated by the whole world
‭‭25 “그를 과감하게 책망하는 사람은 기쁨을 얻고 풍성한 복을 받을 것이다.”Anyone who boldly rebukes him will find joy and be richly blessed
‭‭26 “정직한 대답은 입을 맞추는 것과 같다.”An honest answer is like a kiss
‭‭27 “너는 네 집을 짓기에 앞서 먼저 생활 기반부터 마련하여라.”Before building your own home, you must first prepare a foundation for your life
‭‭28 “너는 이유 없이 네 이웃의 거짓 증인이 되어 허위 사실을 진술하지 말아라.”Do not be a false witness to your neighbor and tell false facts without cause
‭‭29 “그가 너에게 행한 대로 네가 앙갚음을 하겠다고 생각하지 말아라.”Do not think that you will repay him for what he has done to you
‭‭30 “내가 한때 게으른 자의 밭과 지혜 없는 사람의 포도원을 지나가다가”I once passed through the fields of the sluggard and the vineyard of the unwise
‭‭31 “온통 가시덤불이 덮여 있고 잡초가 무성하며 돌담이 무너져 있는 것을 보고”I saw that everything was covered with thorns, weeds were thick, and the stone wall was broken
‭‭32 “깊이 생각하는 중에 이런 교훈을 얻었다.”While thinking deeply, I learned this lesson:
‭‭33 ““좀더 자자. 좀더 졸자. 손을 모으고 좀더 쉬자” 하는 자에게는”Let's sleep more. Let's sleep some more. For those who say, “Let’s put our hands together and rest a little longer,”
‭‭34 “가난이 강도처럼 갑자기 밀어닥치고 빈곤이 군사처럼 몰려올 것이다.”Poverty will come suddenly like a robber, poverty will come like an army
