[현대인성경 KLB 구약 전도서 5장] 경솔한 약속을 하지 말아라

1 “하나님의 집에 들어갈 때 조심하라. 가까이 가서 말씀을 듣는 것이 자기 잘못 을 알지 못하는 어리석은 자가 제사를 드리는 것보다 낫다.”Be careful when you enter the house of God. It is better to approach and listen to the Word than to offer a sacrifice by a fool who does not know his mistakes
‭‭2 “너는 함부로 입을 열지 말고 하나님께 경솔한 약속을 하지 말아라. 그는 하늘에 계시고 너는 땅에 있으니 될 수 있는 대로 말을 적게 하여라.”Do not open your mouth carelessly or make rash promises to God. He is in heaven, and you are on earth; speak as little as possible
‭‭3 “걱정이 많으면 꿈이 생기고 말이 많으면 바보 같은 소리가 나오는 법이다.”If you worry too much, you will have dreams, and if you talk too much, you will say foolish things
‭‭4 “하나님께 약속한 것이 있으면 그 약속을 이행하는 데 지체하지 말아라. 하나님은 어리석은 자를 기뻐하지 않으신다. 네가 약속한 것을 속히 이행하라.”If you have made a promise to God, do not delay in keeping it. God is not pleased with fools. Fulfill quickly what you promised
‭‭5 “너는 입으로 범죄하지 말아라. 너는 하나님의 사자 앞에서 네 약속이 잘못된 것이라고 말하지 말아라. 하나님을 노하시게 하여 네가 한 일을 망쳐 놓을 이유가 무엇이냐?”Do not sin with your mouth. Do not say before the angel of God that your promise is wrong. Why should you make God angry and ruin what you have done?
‭‭7 “꿈이 많든 말이 많든 다 헛된 것이다. 그러므로 너는 하나님을 두려워하라.”Whether you have many dreams or many words, they are all in vain. Therefore fear God
‭‭8 “가난한 사람이 학대받는 것과 정의가 무시당하는 것을 보아도 너는 놀라지 말아라. 모든 관리는 자기보다 더 높은 사람의 감시를 받고 있다.”Do not be surprised when you see the poor being mistreated and justice being ignored. Every official is under the watchful eye of someone higher than him
‭‭9 “모든 사람이 농산물의 혜택을 받고 있으며 왕도 밭에서 나는 것을 먹고 산다.”Everyone benefits from agricultural products, and even kings live off what they grow in the fields
‭‭10 “돈을 사랑하는 자가 그 돈으로 만족을 얻지 못하고 부유하기를 바라는 자가 그 수입으로 만족을 얻지 못하니 이것도 헛된 것이다.”Those who love money are not satisfied with it, and those who wish to be rich are not satisfied with their income, so this is also in vain
‭‭11 “재산이 늘면 그만큼 소비도 많아진다. 그 소유주의 눈을 즐겁게 하는 것 외에 무슨 유익이 있겠느냐?”As wealth increases, consumption also increases. What good does it have except to please the eyes of its owner?
‭‭12 “노동자는 먹을 것이 많든 적든 단잠을 잘 수 있으나 부자는 재산이 많으므로 이것저것 걱정하다가 잠을 자지 못한다.”A worker can sleep well regardless of whether he has a lot to eat or not, but a rich person has a lot of property and cannot sleep because he worries about this and that
‭‭13-14 “나는 또 하나의 다른 심각한 문제를 보았다. 사람들은 억척스럽게 돈을 모으고서도 그 돈으로 위험한 투기를 하여 일이 잘못되면 하루 아침에 재산을 다 날려 버린다. 그는 아들이 있어도 물려 줄 것이 아무것도 없다.”I also saw another serious problem. Even though people work hard to save money, they use that money to engage in risky speculation, and if something goes wrong, they lose their entire fortune overnight. Even if he has a son, he has nothing to pass on
‭‭15 “사람은 태어날 때 벌거숭이로 나왔으니 아무리 수고하여 얻은 것이라 할지라도 이 세상을 떠날 때에는 아무것도 가져가지 못할 것이다.”When people are born, they are naked, and no matter how much they work hard to earn, they will not be able to take anything with them when they leave this world
‭‭16 “이 어찌 슬픈 일이 아니겠는가! 사람은 온 그대로 떠날 수밖에 없으니 바람을 잡으려는 것 같은 수고가 무슨 유익이 있겠는가?”How sad this is! Since people have no choice but to leave just as they came, what good is there in trying to catch the wind?
‭‭17 “우리는 어두움과 슬픔과 번민과 분노와 질병 가운데서 평생을 살아갈 수밖에 없다.”We have no choice but to live our lives in darkness, sadness, anguish, anger, and disease
‭‭18 “나는 하나님이 주신 짧은 일생을 사는 동안 먹고 마시며 자기 일에 만족을 느끼는 것이 제일 좋은 일이며 이것이 인간의 운명임을 알았다.”I knew that the best thing to do during the short life God gave me was to eat, drink, and feel satisfied with my work, and that this was the destiny of man
‭‭19 “만일 하나님이 어떤 사람에게 부와 재물을 주셔서 그것을 누리게 하시며 복을 받아 자기가 수고한 것을 즐길 수 있게 하시면 그것은 하나님의 선물이다.”If God gives someone wealth and possessions to enjoy, to be blessed and to enjoy what he has worked hard for, it is a gift from God
‭‭20 “하나님이 그의 마음에 기쁨을 채워 주셨으므로 그는 인생이 짧다는 것을 그리 심각하게 생각하지 않아도 된다.”Because God has filled his heart with joy, he does not have to think too seriously about the shortness of life
