1 “유다 백성들은 예루살렘에서 요시야의 아들 여호아하스를 왕으로 삼았다.”The people of Judah made Jehoahaz son of Josiah king in Jerusalem
‭‭2 “그는 23세에 왕위에 올라 예루살렘에서 석 달을 통치하였다.”He became king at the age of 23 and reigned for three months in Jerusalem
‭‭3 “그때 이집트의 느고왕이 그의 왕위를 폐하고 유다에 은 3,400킬로그램과 금 34킬로그램을 매년 조공으로 바치게 하였다.”At that time, King Neco of Egypt abdicated his throne and ordered Judah to pay 3,400 kg of silver and 34 kg of gold as annual tribute
‭‭4 “그리고 느고왕은 여호아하스의 형제 엘리아김을 유다 왕으로 삼고 그의 이름을 여호야김으로 고쳤다. 그리고 그의 형제 여호아하스는 이집트로 잡아갔다.”And King Necho made Eliakim, brother of Jehoahaz, king of Judah and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And his brother Jehoahaz took him to Egypt
‭‭5 “여호야김은 25세에 왕위에 올라 예루살렘에서 11년을 통치하였으며 그는 그의 하나님 여호와께서 보시기에 악을 행하였다.”Jehoiakim was 25 years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned in Jerusalem for 11 years, and he did evil in the sight of the LORD his God
‭‭6 “이때 바빌로니아의 느부갓네살왕이 유다를 침략하고 여호야김을 생포하여 그를 쇠사슬로 묶어 바빌로니아로 끌고 갔다.”At this time, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia invaded Judah, captured Jehoiakim, bound him in chains, and took him to Babylonia
‭‭7 “그는 또 성전 비품들도 가져가서 바빌론에 있는 자기 신전에 두었다.”He also took the temple furnishings and put them in his temple in Babylon
‭‭8 “그 밖에 여호야김이 행한 모든 일과 그의 악한 행위는 이스라엘과 유다 왕들의 역사책에 기록되어 있다. 그리고 그의 아들 여호야긴이 왕위를 계승하였다.”Everything else Jehoiakim did and his evil deeds are recorded in the history books of the kings of Israel and Judah. And his son Jehoiachin succeeded to the throne
‭‭9 “여호야긴은 18세에 왕위에 올라 예루살렘에서 석 달 열흘을 통치하였으며 그는 여호와께서 보시기에 악을 행하였다.”Jehoiachin was 18 years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem, and he did evil in the sight of the LORD
‭‭10 “이듬해 봄에 느부갓네살은 여호야긴을 바빌로니아로 잡아가고 성전의 소중한 비품들도 함께 가져갔다. 그런 다음 그는 여호야긴의 삼촌 시드기야를 유다와 예루살렘의 왕으로 삼았다.”In the spring of the following year, Nebuchadnezzar took Jehoiachin to Babylonia and took with him the precious furnishings of the temple. He then made Jehoiachin's uncle Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem
‭‭11 “시드기야는 21세에 왕위에 올라 예루살렘에서 11년을 통치하였다.”Zedekiah ascended the throne at the age of 21 and reigned 11 years in Jerusalem
‭‭12 “그는 그의 하나님 여호와께서 보시기에 악을 행하고 예언자 예레미야가 여호와의 말씀을 일러 주어도 그 말을 겸손하게 듣지 않았다.”He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and did not humble himself when the prophet Jeremiah spoke the words of the Lord
‭‭13 “그는 또 하나님의 이름으로 자기에게 충성할 것을 맹세하라고 강요한 느부갓네살왕을 반역하였다. 그리고 그는 끝까지 고집을 피워 회개하지 않고 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 돌아오지 않았다.”He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who forced him to swear allegiance to him in the name of God. And he persisted until the end and did not repent and return to the Lord, the God of Israel
‭‭14 “이뿐 아니라 유다의 지도자들과 제사장들과 백성들도 그 주변 나라들의 악한 행위를 본받아 이방 우상들을 섬기고 여호와께서 거룩하게 하신 예루살렘 성전을 더럽혔다.”Not only this, but the leaders, priests, and people of Judah followed the evil practices of the nations around them, worshiping foreign idols and desecration of the temple in Jerusalem, which the Lord had made holy
‭‭15 “그들 조상의 하나님 여호와께서는 그의 백성과 성전을 아끼셨기 때문에 그의 사자들을 보내 그들에게 계속 경고하셨다.”Because Jehovah, the God of their ancestors, loved his people and the temple, he sent his messengers to keep warning them
‭‭16 “그러나 그들은 하나님의 사자들을 조롱하고 그의 말씀을 멸시하며 그의 예언자들을 비웃었다. 그래서 결국 그들은 여호와의 노여움을 사서 구제받을 길이 없게 되었다.”But they mocked God's messengers, despised his words, and mocked his prophets. So, in the end, they incurred the wrath of Jehovah, and there was no way for them to be relieved
‭‭17 “그러자 여호와께서는 바빌로니아 왕을 보내 그들을 치게 하셨는데 그는 유다의 젊은이들을 무참하게 학살하며 심지어 성전에까지 들어가서 그들을 죽이고 젊은 남녀는 물론 백발 노인들까지도 불쌍히 여기지 않고 닥치는 대로 마구 죽였다. 이와 같이 하나님은 그들을 모조리 느부갓네살왕의 손에 넘겨 주셨다.”Then the Lord sent the king of Babylon to attack them, and he slaughtered the young men of Judah mercilessly, even entering the temple and killing them. So God delivered them all into the hands of King Nebuchadnezzar
‭‭18 “그리고 그는 성전 비품과 귀중품 그리고 왕과 그 신하들의 보물도 다 바빌론으로 가져갔다.”And he took all the furnishings and valuables of the temple and the treasures of the king and his servants to Babylon
‭‭19 “그런 다음 그는 성전에 불을 지르고 예루살렘 성벽을 헐며 모든 왕궁을 불사르고 모든 소중한 그릇들을 깨뜨려 버렸다.”Then he set fire to the temple, tore down the walls of Jerusalem, burned all the palaces, and broke all the precious vessels
‭‭20 “또 그는 살아 남은 자들을 모조리 바빌로니아로 잡아갔으며 그들은 거기서 노예가 되어 페르시아 제국이 바빌로니아를 정복할 때까지 그 곳 왕과 그 자손들을 섬겼다.”And he took all who were left alive to Babylonia, where they became slaves and served the king and his descendants until the Persian Empire conquered Babylonia
‭‭21 “그래서 그 땅은 여호와께서 예언자 예레미야를 통해 말씀하신 대로 70년 동안 황폐하여 7년마다 한 해씩 땅을 묵히는 안식년과 마찬가지로 안식을 누리게 되었다.”So the land was desolate for 70 years, just as the Lord had spoken through the prophet Jeremiah, enjoying sabbaths like the Sabbaths when the land falls fallow every 7 years
‭‭22 “페르시아의 키루스황제 원년에 여호와께서는 예레미야를 통해 말씀하신 것을 이루시려고 키루스황제의 마음을 감동시키셔서 다음과 같은 조서를 내려 온 땅에 공포하도록 하였다.”In the first year of the Persian emperor Cyrus, in order to fulfill what he had spoken through Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus the emperor to issue the following decree and to promulgate it throughout the land
‭‭23 ““페르시아의 키루스황제가 말한다. 하늘의 신 여호와께서 세상 모든 나라를 나에게 주셨고 또 유다의 예루살렘에 성전을 건축하라고 나에게 지시하셨다. 그러므로 너희 중 그의 백성들은 누구든지 다 이스라엘 땅으로 돌아가거라. 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희와 함께하시기를 원한다.””“This is what Cyrus, the emperor of Persia, says. The Lord God of heaven gave me all the kingdoms of the world and instructed me to build a temple in Jerusalem in Judah. Therefore, any of his people among you must return to the land of Israel. May the LORD your God be with you.”
