1 “내 아들아, 네가 내 말을 듣고 내 명령을 소중히 여기며”My son, if you listen to me and honor my commands,
‭‭2 “지혜로운 말에 귀를 기울이고 그것을 이해하려고 노력하여라.”Listen to wise words and try to understand them
‭‭3 “네가 지식을 추구하고 깨달음을 얻고자 애쓰며”If you seek knowledge and strive to attain enlightenment,
‭‭4 “그것을 은이나 숨겨진 보물을 찾는 것처럼 찾고 구하면”If you search for it as if you were looking for silver or hidden treasure,
‭‭5 “여호와를 두려워하는 것이 무엇인지 깨닫게 되고 하나님에 대한 지식도 얻게 될 것이다.”You will realize what it means to fear Jehovah and gain knowledge of God
‭‭6 “이것은 여호와께서 지혜를 주시며 지식과 깨달음도 그에게서 나오기 때문이다.”This is because Jehovah gives wisdom, and knowledge and understanding come from him
‭‭7 “그가 정직한 자를 위해 완전한 지혜를 예비하시며 흠 없이 사는 자에게 방패가 되시니”He prepares perfect wisdom for the upright, a shield to those who live blamelessly
‭‭8 “모든 일을 공정하게 하는 자를 보호하고 성도들의 길을 지키시기 위해서이다.”To protect those who do all things justly and to guard the path of the saints
‭‭9 “네가 내 말을 들으면 무엇이 옳고 정직하며 공정한지 알게 되고 모든 선한 길을 깨닫게 될 것이다.”If you listen to me, you will know what is right, honest and just, and you will understand every good path
‭‭10 “또 네가 지혜롭게 되고 지식이 너에게 즐거움을 줄 것이며”And you will become wise, and knowledge will give you pleasure
‭‭11 “너의 분별력이 너를 지키고 깨달음이 너를 보호할 것이다.”Your discernment will protect you and enlightenment will protect you
‭‭12 “지혜가 악한 자의 길과 추하고 더러운 말을 하는 자들에게서 너를 구할 것이다.”Wisdom will save you from the ways of the evil one and from those who speak ugly and unclean words
‭‭13 “그들이 바른 길을 버리고 어두운 길로 걸어가며”They have forsaken the straight path and walked down a dark path
‭‭14 “악을 행하는 일을 기뻐하고 악인들의 못된 짓을 즐거워하니”They delight in doing evil and delight in the evil deeds of the wicked
‭‭15 “그들의 길은 굽었고 그들의 행위는 비뚤어지고 잘못되었다.”Their ways are crooked, their ways are crooked and wrong
‭‭16 “그럴 듯한 말로 유혹하는 음란한 여자에게서 지혜가 너를 구할 것이다.”Wisdom will save you from an adulterous woman who tempts you with fancy words
‭‭17 “그런 여자는 자기 남편을 버리고 하나님 앞에서 한 서약을 잊어버린 인간이다.”Such a woman is a person who has abandoned her husband and forgotten the oath she made before God
‭‭18 “그녀의 집이 사망으로, 그녀의 길이 지옥으로 기울어졌으니”Her house is inclined to death, her ways to hell
‭‭19 “누구든지 그런 여자를 찾아가는 자는 다시 돌이킬 수 없고 생명의 길로 돌아오지 못한다.”Anyone who goes to such a woman cannot turn back and cannot return to the path of life
‭‭20 “그러므로 너는 선한 사람들을 본받아 의로운 삶을 살아야 한다.”Therefore, you must follow the example of good people and live a righteous life
‭‭21 “정직하고 흠 없이 사는 사람들은 이 땅에서 살아 남을 것이지만”Those who are honest and blameless will survive on this earth
‭‭22 “악하고 신실치 못한 자들은 이 땅에서 뿌리째 뽑혀 사라질 것이다.”The wicked and faithless will be uprooted from the earth and disappear
