1 “내 아들아, 내가 지혜와 통찰력으로 가르치는 말을 잘 귀담아 듣고”My son, listen carefully to what I teach you with wisdom and insight
‭‭2 “모든 일을 신중하게 하며 네 말에 지식이 깃들여 있음을 보여 주어라.”Do everything carefully and show that your words are imbued with knowledge
‭‭3 “방탕한 여인의 입술은 꿀보다 달고 그 입은 기름보다 더 미끄러우나”The lips of a profligate woman are sweeter than honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil
‭‭4 “나중에는 쓰라림과 고통만을 남겨 줄 뿐이다.”Later it will only leave bitterness and pain
‭‭5 “그런 여자는 지옥을 향해 죽음의 길을 치닫고 있으면서도”Even though such a woman is heading toward hell and on the path of death,
‭‭6 “생명의 길을 생각하지 못하며 자기 길이 비뚤어져도 그것을 깨닫지 못한다.”They cannot think of the path of life, and they do not realize that their ways are crooked
‭‭7 “내 아들들아, 이제 너희는 내 말을 잘 듣고 잊지 말며”Now, my sons, listen carefully to my words and do not forget them
‭‭8 “그런 여자를 멀리하고 그녀의 집 문에도 가까이 가지 말아라.”Stay away from such a woman and don't even come near her door
‭‭9 “그렇지 않으면 한때 네가 누리던 영예를 다른 사람에게 빼앗기게 되고 너는 난폭한 자들의 손에 죽음을 당할 것이며”Otherwise, the honor you once enjoyed will be taken away by others, and you will die at the hands of violent men
‭‭10 “낯선 사람들이 네 재물로 배를 채우고 네 수고한 것이 다른 사람의 집으로 갈 것이다.”Strangers will fill their stomachs with your wealth, and your labor will go to someone else's home
‭‭11 “그럴 경우 결국 네 육체는 병들어 못 쓰게 되고 너는 이렇게 탄식하게 될 것이다.”In that case, your body will eventually become sick and useless, and you will sigh like this
‭‭12 ““내가 왜 훈계를 싫어하며 어째서 내 마음이 꾸지람을 가볍게 여겼는가?”Why do I hate discipline and why do I take scolding lightly in my heart?
‭‭13 “내가 내 스승의 말을 듣지 않았고 나를 가르치는 사람에게 귀를 기울이지 않았더니”I did not listen to my teachers or give ear to those who taught me
‭‭14 “이제 많은 사람들 앞에서 수치를 당하게 되었구나.””Now you are embarrassed in front of so many people
‭‭15 “너는 네 아내에게 성실하고 그녀만 사랑하여라.”Be faithful to your wife and love her only
‭‭16 “네가 다른 여인에게 정을 주어 자식을 낳게 할 이유가 무엇이냐?”Why would you give love to another woman and have children with her?
‭‭17 “너는 네 자녀를 얻는 복을 다른 사람과 나누지 못하게 하라.”Do not let anyone else share the blessing of having your children
‭‭18 “네가 젊어서 얻은 아내를 행복하게 하고 그녀와 함께 즐거워하라.”Make the wife of your youth happy and enjoy her company
‭‭19 “너는 암사슴처럼 그녀를 사랑스럽고 아름답게 여겨 그 품을 항상 만족하게 여기며 그녀의 사랑을 항상 연모하라.”Like a hind, consider her lovely and beautiful, always satisfied with her embrace, and always yearn for her love
‭‭20 “내 아들아, 네가 무엇 때문에 음란한 여자에게 정을 주어야 하며 남의 아내 가슴을 안아야 하겠느냐?”My son, why should you give affection to an adulterous woman and embrace the breast of another man's wife?
‭‭21 “여호와께서는 사람이 하는 일을 다 지켜 보시므로 네가 무엇을 하든지 다 알고 계신다.”The LORD watches all that man does, and he knows whatever you do
‭‭22 “악인은 자기 악에 스스로 걸려 넘어지며 자기 죄의 줄에 자기가 매인다.”The wicked stumbles over his own evil and is bound by the bonds of his own sin
‭‭23 “그는 진리의 교훈을 듣지 않으므로 죽을 것이며 너무 어리석은 탓으로 길을 잃고 방황할 것이다.”He will die because he will not listen to the teachings of truth, and he will wander astray because he is too foolish
