1 “내 아들아, 내 말을 지키며 내 교훈을 잘 간직하여라.”My son, keep my word and cherish my teaching
‭‭2 “내 명령을 지켜라. 그러면 네가 살 것이다. 나의 가르침을 네 눈동자처럼 지키고”Observe my commands. Then you will live. Guard my teachings like the apple of your eye
‭‭3 “이것을 항상 간직하고 네 마음에 새겨라.”Keep this always and engrave it on your heart
‭‭4 “너는 지혜를 네 누이처럼 생각하고 가까운 친구처럼 여겨라.”Think of Wisdom like your sister and like a close friend
‭‭5 “그러면 이것이 너를 지켜 음란한 여자들의 유혹에 빠지지 않게 할 것이다.”This will keep you from falling into the temptations of sexually immoral women
‭‭6 “나는 우리 집 창문을 내다보면서”I look out the window of my house
‭‭7 “어리석은 자들을 많이 보았다. 그 중에서도 특별히 지각 없는 한 젊은이를 본 적이 있다.”I saw many foolish people. Among them, I once saw a young man who was particularly inconsiderate
‭‭8 “그는 음란한 여자가 살고 있는 집 모퉁이 부근의 거리를 따라 그녀의 집 쪽으로 걸어가고 있었는데”He was walking down the street around the corner from where the lewd woman lived, towards her house
‭‭9 “때는 이미 해가 져서 어두움이 찾아드는 저녁 무렵이었다.”It was evening, when the sun had already set and it was getting dark
‭‭10 “그러자 기생처럼 예쁘게 차려 입은 간교한 그 여자가 그를 맞으러 나왔다.”Then the cunning woman, beautifully dressed like a gisaeng, came out to meet him
‭‭11 “그녀는 집에 붙어 있지 않고 제멋대로 돌아다니며”She doesn't stay at home and roams around as she pleases
‭‭12 “어떤 때는 길거리에서, 어떤 때는 광장에서, 어떤 때는 길 이 모퉁이 저 모퉁이에 서서 남자를 기다리는, 창녀와 같은 여자였다.”Sometimes she was a prostitute-like woman who stood on the street, sometimes in the square, and sometimes at every corner of the street, waiting for a man
‭‭13 “그 여자가 그를 붙잡고 입을 맞추며 부끄러운 줄도 모르고 이렇게 말하였다.”She took hold of him, kissed him, and said without shame:
‭‭14 ““나는 오늘 화목제를 드려서 내가 서약한 것을 갚았다.”I have paid my pledge today by offering a peace offering
‭‭15 “그래서 내가 너를 찾으려고 나왔는데 여기서 만나게 되었구나.”So I went out to look for you and found you here
‭‭16 “내 침대에는 이집트에서 수입해 온 아름다운 아마포가 깔려 있고”My bed is covered with beautiful linen imported from Egypt
‭‭17 “몰약과 유향과 계피를 뿌려 놓았다.”Sprinkled with myrrh, frankincense, and cinnamon
‭‭18 “들어가자. 우리가 아침까지 마음껏 서로 사랑하며 즐기자.”Let's go in. Let us love and enjoy each other to the fullest until morning
‭‭19 “내 남편은 먼 여행을 떠나고 지금 집에 없다.”My husband has gone on a long trip and is not home right now
‭‭20 “그는 여비를 많이 가져갔으니 아마 보름이 되어야 집에 돌아올 것이다.””He took a lot of travel expenses, so he probably won't be back home until fifteen days later
‭‭21 “그녀가 그럴 듯한 말로 구슬려대자 결국 그 청년은 그녀의 유혹에 넘어가”As she coaxed him with convincing words, the young man eventually succumbed to her temptation
‭‭22 “곧 그 여자를 따라갔으니 소가 도살장으로 가는 것 같고 사슴이 올가미 속으로 뛰어들어가는 것 같았다.”Immediately I followed the woman; it was like a cow going to the slaughter or a deer running into a snare
‭‭23 “결국 화살이 그의 심장을 꿰뚫고 말 것이다. 그는 세차게 그물을 향해 날아가면서도 자기 생명의 위험을 알지 못하는 새와 같은 자였다.”In the end, the arrow will pierce his heart. He was like a bird flying fiercely toward the net but unaware of the danger to its life
‭‭24 “내 아들들아, 내가 하는 말에 귀를 기울이고 주의 깊게 들어라.”My sons, listen carefully and carefully to what I say
‭‭25 “너희는 그런 여자에게 마음을 쏟지 말고 그 길에 미혹되지 말아라.”Do not set your heart on such a woman, and do not be deceived by her ways
‭‭26 “많은 사람들이 그녀에게 희생되었고 그녀에게 죽은 자도 수없이 많다.”Many people have been sacrificed to her and countless others have died due to her
‭‭27 “너희가 그런 여자의 집을 찾아다니는 것은 지옥행 급행 열차를 타는 것이나 다름없다.”When you go looking for a woman like that, it's like riding an express train to hell
